  1. At that age restrictions are your last concern, they were probably butchered before the bike was 3yrs old. Its only the pipe and carb settings. Back then the restricting didn't amount to much. It got you more easy power but wasn't the thing it is today, the power valve bikes that came next caused the derestricting obsession because they went from 12 to 25hp with just school yard tweaks. Fit a sports pipe and use the carb settings from a 10w and you wont be far off, maybe the cdi. Not sure on the last one.
  2. Nope. Try 6cyl 460hp 10mpg 44tonne. Personally cycliststs are a nightmare. I cannot pass them on rural roads. If im heavy i need 5 to 600 yards to clear them safely. On a grade it can be more. Yes thats 3/4 of a mile i could be on the wrong side of the road passing a 10mph pushbike. Granted if i can pass without slowing its a fraction of that but then your gambling. With the cyclist, also myself and others. Please. Motorcycles suffer minimal effects from cyclists. You not likely to kill one turning left are you. I agree seeing cyclists using the road when there is a cycle path 6feet to their left is infuriating. Is that any worse than loud pipes on customs. The way some ride like the laws dont apply (there are plenty mcycles in that group). Suicidal courier riders. Were talking 'pot, kettle'. Thread full of hypocracy. Im with Paul, very close to locking it.

    Cyclists

You were following me yesterday then?
  4. The early dt lc. Restricted or not they are rocking horse sht rare. Basically a modified dt175mx. The restricted comment would lead me to suggest an early powervalve bike instead. They would be around 1985/6.

    I'm an idiot!

Still don't understand why bikes are not like cars. You just have to have the key with you.
  6. Zip together. As in the zip runs all the way round not just a 4 inch bit at the back. From experience dont have metal zips on any areas that you may slide on like wrists. They get very fkin hot.
  7. The 91 DT125 didn't have the pv electrics and pulley fitted that and some clumsy exhaust blocking and carb changes was all the restriction you got. Its why all these teenagers these days think de restricting a 125 is possible. In 91 they took a European wide spec and tweaked it for the uk. With todays emmissions regs and such bikes are more specifically designed so current 125's make the power their supposed to. Yours with a working pv set up and quality exhaust and carb fiddling could (could, not will!) be good for 25hp. Either scour ebay for the parts and keep your fingers crossed, or search for the parts for a MK1 rd350ypvs. It all bolts on, with the 350lc cdi you should get away with the pv controller that was separate on the 125. You will need to change the wiring to suit. Get hold of a manual for a rd350 and the 125 to check for certain.. Or, pin it back in the mid position its ment to be in.
  8. If you had the cap on you would have measured the 4k ohms in the cap too. Please tell me you have tried a new plug.
  9. IT is very different. The head and barrel will swap but its a completely diff motor. Rh chain, minimal mag, more crcase volume.
  10. We just bought a car and the cheapest route was a loan. 4%. Used a credit card to buy it (zero'd for the purpose) so we could shop around and barter etc. Then use the loan to pay the card. No finance hassles. Clean process and i can pay it off as fast as i like.
  11. The 350lc ecu has a single trigger for the 350. The engine sparks every rotation like the 125. They are both 12v, same redline and i cant see the ig map being vastly different from the full power 125. I see little trouble in adapting the cdi to work on the 125. If you really want ypvs.
  12. Not a great ride from my point of view. Except for the 127 into southend. Personally, I cannot stand riding in our craphole of a Capital. The club is very northern heavy. Im one of the southerners in Northampton.
  13. Once upon a time it that was how we de restricted them. Ypvs parts and some tweaking. Missile! Thank you. To be honest most of em ( read nearly all) ended up skidding down the road.
  14. You need the exhaust off to check it properly. But a 93 bike fit and healthy with the pv will be weak off the mark. If the valve was pinned it would struggle to pull away under 4000rpm and go absolutely nuts, like wheel lifting in 4th nuts at 7k. I get the feeling your bike is normal.
  15. The early powervalves had a separate powervalve controler that fitted at the back of the bike under the seat cowl. They also had different exhaust and very different carb settings. They were the bikes that brought the de restricting fantasy about. That bike done right will be making around 25 VERY entertaining hp. It can get very close to a genuine 100mph but on a good B road you will be in a class of 1. Modern 125's are weak pretenders.
  16. Is the bike bone stock uk spec? What year is it.
  17. Only get genuine headgaskets. Anything else will leak. No gunk or funky tubes of gloop. Do it the way yam says and it will be fine. Handfull of bolts and some pipes. Simple.
  18. Esp as its wrong the wrong way. Bigger wheel means less rotations means LESS miles. Even if its reading kph it should only read 10. Any paperwork with it. Generally the ratio it works with is printed on the face somewhere.
  19. NO In japan a red light is fitted in the spedo that comes on at 55mph (their national speed limit). Straight swap for a uk spedo. Or if you can get your head round kph. Pull the bulb or it will drive you mad as its so bright. I swapped the spedo on mine.

Shows we know our Dt mx's as well.

    DT125MX

Thought only the output shaft bearing had a ring. Mine dont have one.

    DT125MX

Google Ty trials. You will get every single part you need from them. Rebuilt mine twice with parts from them and have no complaints on price or service.
  23. Could be. But if there is sealant in there it could be a leak through the case join. If it was the rh seal you would need a lot of fuel to fill the case to cause the problem. Fuel can creep through smaller gaps. A small leak in the case to case seal would allow fuel residue out when the engine cools. At the same time would not allow oil through........yet.
  24. Anything over 45w will prob kill the lighting system. Substituting led's for any other lighting on the bike will save maybe 10w. So 55 maybe 60w is doable at the top limit with a healthy battery and all LED.
  25. If you had a new 125 it would be more like 100mpg. Dont forget in your costs. Insurance, tax as well as purchace and consumable costs are far less than the car. Not to mention parking and skipping traffic ques. Bear in mind some bikes do far less. Ridden hard my 250 will drop down to mid twenties. My old 600 dropped to sub 20mpg on the TT course on the IOM. Was fun though.
