  1. Huh, I'm not commenting on your world, I'm commenting on mine.
  2. Nah, its an error. That truck did at that corner what I do countless times a day, admittedly without squashing a Ducati. In the Black Country and Birmingham the drivers of cars and bikes are beyond stupid. I have narrowly missed people driving into my blind spots during manoeuvres which I have no choice but to perform to get the truck into the delivery points. I was even stuck on a mini roundabout due to a driver undercutting me, giving me no room to move forward, (unless I drove over his car with the trailer) with, due to traffic no room to reverse. Took a bobby to make the traffic move far enough for me to get off the roundabout. As I have already said the driver was in error, but, there is argument that the motorcyclist didn't take the proper actions either. He wasn't nailed to the floor, moving 2 feet would have saved his bike. I am also a little disappointed that a forum of people who are part of a severely persecuted part of the driving population are so quick to jump up with the pitchforks against another equally persecuted group. Unless you have driven a LGV on the streets of any major uk city you cannot objectively comment.
  3. This has been posted before and debated at length. https://yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/42517-ducati-goes-squish/#comment-269334
  4. Easy. I found a firm called merlin. Most comfortable jacket i have ever had. They have taken the belstaff process but used kevlar instead of cotton. Soft armour and basic back protection with room for a proper back protector. Not leaked a drop so far. Was warm without anything more than a tee and a sweatshirt in 2degree weather. About 200 quid.
  5. Sounds about right. As bikes get older they consolidate parts. You want that mesh for my TDR250 you got to buy the whole tank assy. Tank mesh is easy. Forget it and use an inline filter. The cap seal should be plenty of pattern seals on e8ay. Bash plate same. Breakers on e8ay.
  6. Thats the model code. The restricted uk bike was 12w. Yours is 10v. Like the aircooled DT175 model code is 2k4.
  7. I can hear them saying it.... "No you dosy bugger, look its on the map. Squires is there"
  8. It will only have a tiny impact on performance, its more complex than a bit of a dent. I have read books on it and could bore myself to death with it. Its more about chamber volume and overall shape, pulse reflections and such, the dent unless sizeable will have little real effect. The anoraks and perfectionists would say otherwise unless 1/2 a hp and 100rpm matters to you. I know my DT had several connectors within the loom, on the main feeds where several feeds were needed they had spliced off within the loom. When I rewired my DT they were quite corroded as they were only wrapped in loom tape. That may be something to consider.
  9. Considering a good second hand set is only £70 posted it would be a waste of time. I doubt they will fix em for £70. If they were mint forks off of something rare, but no disrespect to the old SR but.. Not to mention the monster sitting on your shoulder, what happens if I really stress them again will they just bend or fold completely.
  10. Pah, heresy. More mess, more hassle, worse running, costing you for oil you wouldn't use with a pump. I have done both (have been pretty skint at times past) and will use the pump as much as possible.
  11. For stick welding on exhaust metal its pretty good, the metal exhausts are made from are a long way from top quality. Why stick welder though? Surely mig would be better for bike welding.
  12. Well, few years back I spent over a grand getting a Suzuki I had to make some proper power, with another 800quids worth of race pipe it made over 100bhp, 40 up on stock. It had cams, head work, cdi, carbs rebuilt, the list went on. The folk at TTs left the airbox just changing the filter, cut the inlet up a bit. I said 'I expected them to change the airbox or junk it entirely' and they replied 'that is done only for drag bikes and "show over go", stuff'. 'Worst thing you can do for performance junking the airbox'.

Don't obsess over cc, its meaningless. Just as example, xvs 650 and R6, similar cc! as similar in truth as cornflakes and concrete. Unless you want to be joining the power rangers and their pathetic pissing contests. 'Oh must get the new one its 2 mph faster with 3grammes less fat and was looked at by rossi'. Anything over 400cc from this millennium will crack the ton easily and be easily fast enough to scare you. My TDR 250 would be quite a shock, 200BHP/litre is more than any superbike. And she is getting on for 30 years old. I would expect you to see something and thing 'oooh, like that'. That is the time to consider what step next.
  15. Believe me I'm in no position to judge, Blackhat will tell you till your ears bleed about me running out of 2 stroke oil due to a blown bulb. Or spending hours trying to find out why my tdr wouldn't spark, was just a plug in the end but common coil, pluglead feed so when I wasn't getting spark on the rhs cyl, (easiest one to get to) It didn't occur to me till after checking everything again. By now bike was in bits across the garage. The problem was one of the new plugs was bad, but I assumed new plugs must be good. What did me was one of the OLD plugs had gone bad too. So I had a problem and changing to new plugs left the same problem. Got some grey hairs from that one. The most important part is we all leaned a little more, and you fixed your own bike are you going to the squires meet in September? its not that far from you and its the biggest gathering of members in the flesh all year. About 8 lol.

    Summer wear

Same jacket and gloves as i wear all year. Mine has a removeable thermal lining but otherwise its same stuff hot or cold.
  17. Congrats, hang on? What was it I said about it being something simple...
  18. Depends what you want in it. I have a Oxford Humppack that's got to be 10years old, big enough for lunchbox and some general bits and bobs. It looks its age but for work its perfect.
  19. Fizzle! Ok. Were into technical terms then. Wd 40 may help. If you spray it at suspect areas it may stop the 'fizzle' or highlight its position more than the propane. I assume you were using the gas to see if the revs pick up by burning the gas that gets in?
  20. Sounds like something interfering with the choke. Try giving the bike 4 or 5 kicks with the ig off before starting the bike. Does it have a vacume fuel tap?
  21. Depends. Not uncommon for air leaks not to show as the air is sucked in. Does it start better when is warm?
  22. Ok. Step back and think. Something is causing this and it isnt the pv. Once upon a time 125's were sold with the pv not having a controler. Never affected their starting. I still feel there is some sort of leak. Either air, fuel or oil going or not going where it should. Got good 2stroke feed? Good fuel supply?
  23. Nice one. People generally ignore pv seals even though its like having a leaky exhaust. This may sound daft but. Have you tried using your old plug?
