  1. No, you were late. No excuses, you knew about it with plenty (weeks most likely) of notice and should have planned your day accordingly but took the piss and got burned. Because you were late a test went untaken, ie a machine wasn't used that could have been. If you missed a plane or coach you have to pay again for another seat on another later trip. You don't get your money back. Its the same thing. You were late and its not a con. Its how it is.
  2. If you use a lower gear still. When you say lower gears how are you using them. What is the rpm, speed and gear the noises start. Carb balance and plugs generally show in the lower revs with larger throttle use. I think its probably pinking.
  3. Sorry i sympathize with most of your bad luck but you were late. Full stop. How is that a con. Your fault!. Suck it up and deal with it and next time, be on time. You should be glad its not 3months. Or like the old days your licence could run out.
  4. Just to mention. The starting and running bit works ok for the diesels. Not so much for the strokers. Couple of slow cranks on the kicker if you must but their best left. Running without riding will leave all sorts of oily hassle the next time you use it properly.
  5. Honestly? For parking up from end of October to begining of March, (salt, shite weather). I put it in the garage on the padock stand and unless im doing any winter maintainance, um... Thats it.

    Puter stuff.

I know its not motorcycles but my laptop died last week. Mr fixit changed the duf hard drive (don't keep anything on it I'm not bothered about losing). But Mr fixit convinced me to go for some upgrades, a 250G SSD. Fk me! Fast!, I shit you not from stone cold off to ready to post on YOC in seconds, windows is up and running from cold in under 5. No whizzy noises either, its silent save for the cooling fan and that's only when gaming. everything happens so quick its ridiculous. Very much recommended.
  7. Oh dear been there, sorry mate but.... Oh the forks, just remember when working on the bike, if you have taken the forks off for work don't think its a good idea to whip out the back while there being done. Don't ask how I know.
  8. What on earth are you doing riding at 2-4000rpm. The bike will hate you, any middleweight will get the arse at those rpm for more than a passing glance. It may be highlighting a weak plug or some carb balance but to be honest. Get the bugger up to 5-6k in town and let her rip out of it, its not a car, she needs revs. 5k on a light throttle is fine. Wide open at 3k is nasty.
  9. To be honest looking at the photo you may have fuel leaking from the float bowl too intermittently as well. See the staining at the bottom of the float bowl and a matching stain on top of the crank case under the carb. Could be blow back from the gasket leak tho? Something to watch.
  10. If the pump was faulty the oil wouldn't get there to leak. Looks like a bad gasket, don't forget that will be oil/petrol mixture and if its getting out your in theory at least running lean on oil and fuel and may be allowing air in after the carb which is BAAAAD so fixing sooner rather than later. Why does the oil pump get the blame for everything on 2strokes? Someone will blame a puncture on one soon.

    MyTY50M

Heh, had the DT50m when I was a youf, pretty much the same bike really, one of the fastest '50cc' bikes in Northampton. Was recorded downhill by a rxs100 at 0ver 70mph. He was flat out too.... Was not what you would call standard mind, looked ordinary but was an absolute bastard to ride with a power band as wide as a politician's conscience. Loved that bike, I hope it killed the bastard that stole it.

    oil window

I never get this. If you know the oil level is correct just use a reference that works for you. Certain point on the window, bent coat hanger dipped in the filler. Doesent matter the angles as long as you check it in the same place.
  13. Fucked if I know. My dad I suppose. I know the rules were changed and the garage my old man used to work in stamped the service books keeping their warranty.
  14. As long as the work is done with the proper parts by a competant engineer your fine. Unfortunately that means using a garage of some description. One with properly experienced and trained staff.

    Visors/Pinlocks

Im considering a second pair of glasses tinted like that for night driving. Car headlights are getting way too bright for my liking.
  16. You know how this works. Somewhere there is a firm that orderd a scaffold to be ready for day x. That will be done sometime ahead by a scaffolder. Could be from miles away. Scaffolders put up scaffold at address given. They may have been told no ones going to be in. Scaff inspector will come to sign off. Then a few days/week later work starts. Maybe new winows or such. I bet the scafolders got the address wrong. Then the whole thing goes to shit. If the people that put it up cant remember where it is they will write it off. They may never come for it. One last thought. Scaffold tube more often than not has something like "property of bogit an co" stamped along the tube.
  17. Are your neighbours blind and deaf. No chance something like that would go up in my village. Without the folk being seen by someone. They wouldnt stop them but they would notice. Bet there is a contractor somewhere screaming murder at not having a scaffold.
  18. I was expecting something more along the lines of a golf ball and a fire extinguisher. Mispent youth?
  19. Sure its actually worth the worry. My old suzuki still had its centre stand, granted with the rubber stops cut to almost nothing. I could lean that ol girl far enough to drag the bellypan, pegs and exhaust. Stand never touched. Wish i was going too.
  20. 2stroke rings are not as effective as a 4 stroke. If their in place their good enough to run ok. Your talking about being down on power not bad running. If the crank seal is leaking you need to fix it. Pointless doing anything else. Bad starting and subsequent seizure of the engine is guaranteed.
  21. Timing doesent come and go. If she flew a few days ago its NOT timing. It cannot drift like a 4stroke with all the extra crap envolved. If it goes its gone. Bike stops. Bad idle jet/choke is what i would be rechecking and also look up the pipe to the cyl. My tdr was doing this when the rings pinged the powervalve. Still ran but poor starting. Could also be a crank seal (spray wd40 behind the mag and see if things change) but lets start easy.
  22. Clean the bits that catch the oil with a strong degreaser so its clean as a new pin. Bathroom degreasers seem pretty good from the pound shop. Then use a silicone polish. The cheap dashboard spray stuff has loads in it. The crud comes off really easily then. Obviously avoid the tyres and such.
