  1. Search the forum. There is a member that does electricals like this. Speedshop (i think)
  2. Sound like it could be the stator but considering the sheer numbers of dt125s in the world i would consider good second hand. Stator failure is not common.
  3. Maybe being a bit ott but the current bt45 is squaring off at under 3k. Wont be long before it starts whitelining. That is when i change it. It is only a 250. 2adults is a bit much on a bike like a tdr.
  4. Too much for me too. 36deg on a bike that keeps cool by heating the rider.
  5. Hmm. Definately something we can do.
  6. The unoficial meet for the yoc is at the Squires cafe near leeds. I tegularly do 700miles on my TDR 250 that weekend and a member came from Ireland, via Forfar to Sherburn. More than 1500 odd miles in a weekend on a .......... Drumroll please..... Dt125 165m at 50mph. Barely need to refuel.

The guy next door is selling his bike. A j plate KLE500 if anybody is interested. Its a little weatherd but sounds ok and starts easy. The real bonus is the hard luggage. We were saying how it will make no difference to the price of the bike. He knows i was fiddling with some sort of luggage and slap me if he said help yourself. Full set of hard luggage. 2 side cases and a top box. Need to make a few brackets but who cares.
  9. The egr valve returns exhaust gas to the engine, your performance is coming from not having the exhaust gas in the charge. This means your engine is running dangerously close to melting the piston.
  10. Well turns out the only problem with fitting the wheels is me. Somehow I got one of the measurements out by 7mm, how the f did I manage that. Everything else is spot on, the front wheel fits perfect. Need some 15mm spacers and longer bolts to bolt up my front caliper, 10mm needed on the rear. The sprocket carrier lines up perfect. Its all perfect apart from 7mm. Still cant figure how I'm so far off on ONE measurement. Ahh well I can sort out tyres, rear sprocket (had to track down a 520pitch 45 tooth sprocket that fits, same as an RSV1000 LOL) and cleaning the wheels now I know they proper fit. Delay wont amount to much, hopefully they can do it next week if the missus can drop it to them on Monday.
  11. Yamaha's use different coils in the stator, your ignition system is completely and totally separate to the lighting and such. You need to check you voltage at the battery for starters.
  12. Sorry but a divvy that nice. To rip it up to build a tracker seems such a shame.
  13. That piston looks pretty good really, how much did you clean the sides of the piston. If you haven't cleaned it up much and its not worn badly I would tidy up the rough edges and fit some new rings and put it back unless its way out. Dress the transfers before you hone it though. That will make it last longer too.
  14. What prompted that then, just had the stuff laying around and had a 'I wonder?' moment.
  15. Me. Im going with a leaky/worn injector or a compression issue. Have you checked its a really nice bright spark. The bike running worse means the fi detected the change and compensated adding even more fuel. Componding the problem but also focusing it too.
  16. Yes dont go touring France but a short ride along a road you use a lot so you know how the bike normally feels. It will make it louder. Its one of the less obvious air filter jobs, silencing the intake noise.
  17. Easiest test first. Ride it without the filter and see what happens. Next one is a question. Does it smoke at all.
  18. Not a lot to rattle. Specific rpm at all (?slice). I would think its more likely the different sounds. Between the xt and the Dt. Ignore the mechanic. I trust very, VERY few. They have to earn a living. Changing too early and running on ordinary unleaded will make her stroppy. Riding in the low rpm wont keep her sweet either. 2strokes need to sing. Try keeping the rpm nearer to 7k and let her run to the red line when you can and a lot of the noises will vanish.
  19. I would have fancied that too. Have watched bikes and cars round there and would love to give it a go. Would they let a 30yr old 2smoker on there?

    Cool summer

I find most of the heat is from the bike its self. Both my exhausts run under the seat. As well as the rad vents in the bodywork venting onto your knees. Nice when its not so warm. Would you not need to open your jacket to give the air somewhere to go?
  21. Well.... There are universal systems out there and some wingrack systems (i think) with universal bracketry. There is unlikely to be a bespoke set but if you want it and have the money im sure you can do it. When i get the time/money im making some for my tdr but 2 kids and a 70hr week kind of get in the way.
  22. Using google before asking would be easier. Took seconds to get this, literally. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=tdr+125+workshop+manual

    Got a rattle..!

Thought the chain was in the middle. Meh diesels... Have you checked nothings loose. I had all sorts of ideas go through my head when i had a rattle behaving in a similar way. Turned out it was the kick start. Rattling at low rpm.
