  1. Well today was a deffo tit Monday candidate. Saw several ladies who were taking advantage of the sun but being a little 'nippy'. Happy days
  2. Locktite, this stuff:- https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=340252&vat_inc=true or something along those lines. Best of luck to the next guy trying to get it out mind.
  3. The most i have ever got from the tdr on a tank was 119miles, that was coasting into the petrol station with a dead engine after running completely dry. That was cruising miles too, not blasting. Fast A road work drops the tank range into the 70's. Mind i have seen tdr's on the TDR forum in Europe with fuel cans as part of the luggage. Suppose it is possible in theory. Something to think on in the future.
  4. Be nice but my bike has nowhere near the abilities to do that run, just getting to the start would be an epic.

Cracked heads can be welded just depends how much money your willing to spend to fix it. Hell i ride a tdr 250, made of glass as far as longevity goes. Ride past a chippy and they rot. Tanks rust because the metal has rust in it (FROM NEW), same as the exhausts. If the price is right go for it.
  6. Are you talking 'hotel pillow' there kev, or were you hoping Steve might make a showing? He wont be wanking in a tent at the steam rally this time eh? Prob wanking in a tent somewhere else though.
  7. LOL, its over 700 (very dull) km just to get to the start from mine. Enjoy the trip..
  8. The difference when i fitted the mags to my TDR were night and day. Might nick your fitting of the front guard as mine is still too high. Got a pic? I'm still holding out for an RG front guard.
  9. Cold, cold is cold. Hot has too many variables, like valve clearances are normally done cold. Yes there are rare exceptions but your going, not might, going to burn yourself. Figure within 10-15% of that figure is fine, more important they should be all broadly the same. If one is different to the other 3 by say? 25psi, that would sound warning bells.

    MR trail

Some stats from the internet http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_mr50_1980.php Pretty much, the twinshock is the spit of the DT50m. The Later monoshock is, apart from differences in plastics, and oddly no nosecone on the MR the same as the DT50 MX. The engines are broadly the same except for one VERY big difference...... A fit and healthy twinshock with the 16mm carb will crack 60mph, i can vouch for this having been clocked on my old 50 in the stone age at 65, (at 60cc with a lot of teenage fiddling). The MX, at least in the uk..... well...... wont, 30mph in the uk. Boooooooooooooooooo. Fit the m engine parts parts, (carb/reeds/inlet/ exhaust) and yahay, so guess where all the m's went.
  11. Its not the fact it needed paying. When people stump up the money its showing they will be there.
  12. Anything concrete yet, could do with booking the Friday off and running out of time.....?
  13. As is 'in good nick' and 'restored' are the same kind of money. Myself, i think full restorations erase the bike and just create a copy, it will never be like a 30 year old classic because it isn't. My tdr is original unrestored with its rough edges and worth the same as a full restoration. Fully restoring a basket case, fair enough, its fucked anyway. A good tidy bike needing nothing but time, no. Repair yes, restore no.
  14. Big singles can be a bastard to start just because its a Wednesday. When did you lay it up for the winter, modern rubbish they call fuel. Especially the regular unleaded goes off after a few months. The choke may not help but fuel could well be the issue. Was it easy to start last year.
  15. Certainly an improvement. Right hand crankcase (not clutch cover) near the upper rear engine mount, below the carb.
  16. With how slow the revs drop and how wimpy and flat the engine sounds the seals have to be high on the list. How does it start in poor power mode.
  17. Carb is model dependant. Some even had a 22mm. Same type of carb. Cdi may or may not be different. I would expect so but not by enough to matter in the real world. You really have 3 options. Some 125s were points. On the 175 you had 2 different cdi and you need the matching mag. It is generally accepted that the early cdi (79) with the later airbox works best. That does need a matching oil tank and moving the voltage regulator. The 175 does have an extra friction plate in the clutch. You may or may not need it. In good nick i see no reason for a 125 clutch not to handle the extra 3hp.
  18. I'm in, can paypal or online bank tx as you please. 2 nights. YOC 2018 is officially on, Haven't missed one yet.
  19. Mine is, ride when i want, as hard as i like, for as long as i like. 'She' don't moan about spills either........
  20. What the f is with this weather, all week its been nice and bright with warm sun, come the weekend when i can actually ride my bike somewhere. Its fucking snowing. Forecast for Monday...... Bright and warm. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG
  21. Same helmet as mine drewps. Yep noisy bugger. Needs plugs. Keep thè latch lubricated with some silicon too or it sticks and doesent open cleanly. Nice on a hot day or fueling up though.
  22. Pissing with rain here,
