  1. Sounds like it was running out of fuel, is the fuel supply to the carb ok, no kinks or such?
  2. So by that logic on a cruiser you don't need anything to make up for a small pecker......
  3. No for me too. Cannot see a benefit. The interaction makes the site better. Something to sort the one post wonders, but the age old question of how? comes up, i am not sure there is an answer. The way the site controls its self for the mostvpart is somethingto be proud of. Ttask has something with making the profile info mandatory i think.
  4. Firstly you can't compression test a 2 stroke the same way as a 4 stroke as the case seal is as if not more important than the piston seal, which is marginal at best on a 2 stroke. Your basically tossing a coin here, 2000miles in 40years could be a death sentance or it could be ok, mainly its down to the seals. They age and can perish and that i would say is your biggest worry. The pot and the piston are unlikely to have issues bar maybe gummed rings so long as the bore hasn't rusted. The gearbox internals may also be fine, but again could be part fine and part rusty mess due to the oil not moving for 40 years. Basically if you live on the cost and it was last run in 1978 it may well be shot, but if your in texas and it has been used 4-5 times a year to blow the dust off it could be good to go. Can't say more really....... apart from replacing all the seals and bearings, available readily enough here in the uk for under £100 (cheaper if you chance the crappy pattern stuff) so its hardly a disaster if the seals have gone.

    Olympic Condoms

On that theory the bronze may be more fun, in the right 'partnership' of course.
  6. Cock all on what you've told us so far.
  7. Its here, have tried it on the bike and its pretty good. Noise is similar, feels a much better fit than the shoei and wow, that flip front. Stop at a junction and its a bit warm and up she goes. Ansum, takes as long to flip up as it does to lift the visor, you can close it nearly as fast too. Feel a bit of a tit with the sunvisor thing down though. Nothing new before you lot start. File under very happy, as good as the write ups.
  8. A sproket run on a fooked chain can be just as fooked in a couple of hundred miles, less on a chain killer like your TT.
  9. Spot on match to the black and yellow of the TDR though. There are some retro schemes too, a matt black tramline has 1960's all over it.
  10. Me too, they clog up a bit if you plod like the 4 stroke pilots but keep em spinning and their golden. Did have a proper mx mud tyre for the front in the winter. The rear was fine all round.
  11. Don't care with the piston on the bench, change them. There is just too much work on a diesel to not swap out the rings.
  12. And of course that sprocket is the right width and pitch for the chain?
  13. Just treated myself to a new lid, the old one was showing its age. Padding losing its grip and the material around the base and the straps was showing its age. Its been everything from red hot in the summer (?) sun to frozen shut (the visor) in the freeze. And of course wet, very fucking wet at times. As well as nearing 6 years old. So its making way for a Shark Evoline 3, the new one. VERY nice. Fits lovely (Well the one i tried in the shop near me before i went ebaying), glasses seem ok, time will tell on that. Best bit, with some haggling and some internet time i got over 70quid off. Come on Mr postman..............
  14. Record it as a you tube clip and post that, that would be my choice.
  15. Speaking as somebody who has had a computer declared a total loss due to viruses i'm not going anywhere near that link and anybody that does wants lamping.
  16. My 2 penneth, seeing as i poo pooed taskys option. chop the frame for the cafe thing but update it a knats. RGV or ZXR 400 (kwak is prob better) front end, maybe pinch the rear wheel swinger and maybe sus too or graft the lugs on for the pogo sticks. Keep the ally's any modern cafe racer would swap out the spoked wheels in a heartbeat if they had the chance but don't polish them. Then mod the frame to fit it and par the fucker down like Andy has with his tracker. Throttle with internal cables, switches on the headlight cowl as little crap as possible that is where i'd really spend the time. Finish it with a nice deep rich blue or burgandy, and by deep i mean really dark. With some billet highlights.
  17. You will get more replies if you can actually name the exhaust. Otherwise its replace time. Stainless is worth every extra penny.
  18. Hmm, i'm OK with the idea but i don't like that. Its supposed to be minimal but the headlight and bars are to messy, no muddy but mirrors? The engine is too big and too small at the same time. The forks are lost somewhere at the front. Sorry it just don't work, appreciate the effort but......
  19. Just spent half hour on the usual suspects an drawn a blank so far. Could do with some pictures. I have a couple of books at home to i'll check them later
  20. Odd merv the m had become the MX by 85
  21. Somehow i thought "cutting the wood" would be a lot more painfull there.
  22. Run 400 meters and see how fast you did it, then repeat it carrying a 25k sand bag. Weight is bad, removing it is THE best performance mod you can make, unfortunately you see big fat knackers ooozing from their romper suits yawning on about saving an ounce with a new set of fairing bolts for a million quid from a bike that has been put on a serious diet by the makers.. Japaneese bikes are designed to work with a 75kg around 10st (typical jap) rider, they just bang on stiffer springs for us lardy europeans. Your 35% heavier than the gearing was created for so your going to lose performance. Or your bike needs to make 16-17hp to compensate.
  23. Sorry no dice. The official wear limit on those disks will be maybe 1mm. If their marked or scored their fkd simple. You could maybe vapour bkast the carrier but even that my affect the bobbins. At the end of the day they are a life or death item. Don't take chances.
