  1. we all want a little bit extra out of our bikes but get real 90mph + out of a dt125 not a chance, if this was the case i would expect after all the years i have been riding bikes one would have overtaken me by now but not yet, seen one or two doing 70+ but anything more than that then we are in the realms of fantasy.

    Crazy SatNav

sat nav? its less than 9 miles in to manchester from mossley and she sent you the wrong way and drewpy wonders why i dont bother with these new fangled inventions. cant even figure a mobile phone out when we went to stafford drewpy had to tell me my phone was ringing (must wear my deaf aid more) but at least i can read a map so got through europe no problem no chance with sat nav,
  3. right try starting the bike not using the choke or very little choke,as you have been starting the bike just to check that it starts and not going for a run every time you start the bike it is taking power from the battery but not getting a chance to put back what you have taken out, it could be that you have just flooded the system . my dragstar125 very rarely needs the choke and when it does just a little. next time you start the bike let it run for 5 or 10 minutes. you say you bought a new battery did it come fully charged ? if not just starting it and not letting it get a chance to put anything back you will be back to square one.
  4. all very well buying a battery but as most batterys dont come fully charged you will still need to fully charge up the battery to get the most out of your battery and prolonge its life. one of the first investments you should make as a biker is a battery charger,as you dont know if your battery is knackered it could just have gone flat through the bike not being used so its false economy to just buy a new battery, try borrowing a battery charger of some one, where in the country are you? maybe somebody off the forum lives near you. the battery off the 125 dragstar is a maintenance free so you dont need to top up the electrolite. i have just replaced the battery on my dragstar125 got it from halfords a Bosch Motorcycle Battery 4AS YTX5L-BS £37.99 not the exact battery for the bike but good enough my last one lasted 2 years.

"Hi Mum, How are you"? "Hi Son, where are you? I thought you were with your father at B&Q Hardware ""Yeah we were, but I got arrested, and they've let me make one phone call." What happened ?" "Oh, I punched this African-American woman in the head." "What on earth ~ why did you do that ?????" "Well it wasn't my fault. Dad told me to find a Black & Decker."
  7. hey gas up. it has just been annouced on the news that greater manchester police,s computer has been hit by a virus and that since friday they have not been able to check on vehicles or criminals for almost four days now and that they are struggling. there is a god after all. :D
  8. shit in the right carb
  9. i dont agree with the war in afganistan or iraq for the reasons the goverment give us but i also dont agree with the extremists within this country being allowed to march and force there extreme views on us, its about time the goverment in this country stopped all this political correctness nonsense and sent all these extremist on there way instead of letting them insult the people of this country yet still feel happy to come here and abuse our benifits system, the only reason they choose this country over others in europe is that they know they can come here and get away with what ever they want and if we disagree pull out the racist card. as far as the war on terror being a sales pitch bwj tell that to the relatives of the people who died in the london bombings or 911 thats not a sales pitch its a wake up call.
  10. the group you are talking about is ISLAM4UK IS AN EXTREMISTS ISLAMIC GROUP & DOES NOT REPRESENT THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN THIS COUNTRY. there is a group on facebook NO TO THE PLANNED ISLAM4UK MARCH THROUGH WOOTTON BASSETT THIS GROUP IS NOT A POLITICAL GROUP & ANY PROMOTING OF ANY POLITICAL PARTY GROUP...RESPECT WOOTTEN BASSETT & ALL IT STANDS FOR ARE THE AIMS OF THE GROUP. i joined this group when i became aware of islam4uk via a ex service mans site it has grown in a matter of days to over 280,000 people,in 24hrs over160,000 people have joined.
  11. BFPO is not struggling to cope, the only time there has been a problem was when the royal mail were subjected to the one day strikes. mail provides an essential link with home for all service men and women, for many service personnel it means the difference between a good day and a bad day so keep sending your mags. royal mail has a good relationship with BFPO and handles half a million bags a year destined for troops all over the world. mail from your post offices is collected and sent to BFPO,s distribution office in greenford ,middlesex and sorted by service personnel then sent to RAF northolt where its sent to its destination. as an ex serviceman i can tell you there is nothing better as a morale booster than to recieve something from home family or friends. so keep sending.
  12. It's illegal to drive after dusk and before sunrise with only your sidelights on. It's not illegal to have your side lights on in daylight hours , but the police could try and argue that if you're driving around dusk or daybreak, and you've got your side lights on you acknowledge lights are needed, and you've failed to do so properly. It would be really hard for them to prove the point in court so I can't see them doing it.
  13. when asking any insurance company for a quote certain factors are taken in to account, the fact that the bike is parked over night outside will increase the premium, the fact the bike is not alarmed or has an approved chain, post codes model of bike as some are more likely to be stolen than others, other factors that bump up premiums are all the add ons legal protection, breakdown cover etc. its all about risks the less risks then there money is safe. as gas up suggests try other models, other companys for quotes dont be put off, some of my quotes this year varied by some crazy amounts, bennets wanted £89 more to insure my 125cc than they did to insure my 600cc. so shop about. welcome to the forum and the crazy world of motorcycling.
  14. darren take it to any main crown post office,up to 2kg postage is free as i send stuff to mates from my ex unit. for all info on bfpo this link will give you info. http://www.bfpo.mod.uk/how_to_address_your_mail.htm on the left hand side under quick links will give you any info you need. all my motorcycle news get sent and any mags i buy, they will be really grateful.
  15. That blue smoke is oil being burnt. oil is either 1) getting past a gasket to the combustion chamber and burning or 2) it is leaking from the cylinder(sp) into the exhaust pipe and smoldering. Check your torque settings on your head bolts and if they are at specs, I would suspect the head gasket. Have a compression leak down test done to check if your piston rings are worn.

  18. clarkegray be glad you bought the oxford hot hands and not the hot grips,i also have a xvs125 and last year was going to fit hot grips but found out that although it was a 12 volt bike that the oxford hot grips were not suitable as the xvs 125 system would not cope and they would end up flattening the battery, after talking to a couple of yamaha mechanics they confirmed this but recommended oxford hot hands as they only draw 1.3 Amps each, and only 18 Watts each at full power. This isn't very much of a load, so they should work on just about any motorcycle, even those with weak alternators. the best thing is with the hot hands you can take them off and put them back as and when you need them with out to much hassle,a bonus where you can get 3 seasons in one day in this country.
  19. > Wimbledon hopeful Simona Halep wants surgery to reduce the size of her breasts. > > > > Halep is seen as one of the tennis stars of the future after winning a host of junior titles and a place in the final of the junior French Open last year. > > But the 5-foot-5-inch Romanian tennis star said she thinks her 34DD bust is holding her back. > > "This fall I'll have a breast reduction operation," Halep said. "The breasts make me uncomfortable when I play." > > "It's the weight that troubles me (and) my ability to react quickly," she added. > > > WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL THIS KID THAT WINNING ISN'T EVERYTHING!! THIS SELFISH SPOILED LITTLE BRAT SHOULDN'T BE SO CONSUMED WITH "WINNING MAJOR TENNIS TOURNAMENTS"!!! WHAT ABOUT US.... THE HARD-WORKIN EVERYDAY FAN???? > 34DD's??? FOLKS PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR WARLOCKS LIKE THAT! AND THIS LITTLE BRAT WANTS TO HAVE THEM "REDUCED"??? THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE. > >
  20. laughed when i saw you got asked for id in homebase. i went in for some glue there a few weeks ago and was asked for id, i said are you joking over 18 i am over 60 the girl said with a straight face its company policy we have to ask everyone! i said even old folk like me she said yes even old folk like you. hope you get the baffles out
  21. paul the only way i got in on the laptop was to type in yamaha owners club then bookmarked i still cant get in if i try yamahaclub.com. so for any new folk it could be a problem but i am sorted
  22. i have the forum bookmarked on the main pc so have had no problem but my son was on it so went upstairs on the laptop and yes it took me to joomla page and would not take me any further it said it would need to be removed from the directory.
  23. very scary! the media impartial i dont think so it has got to the stage where you dont know what to believe. when i asked my son why he did not vote his replie was whats the point they will just do what they want most of the blokes i work with dont even open mail from the union or royal mail as they are both liers. after 12 years he is still on a 20hour contract, full time staff are a thing of the past ask your own postman how many hours a week he is contracted to do, how the hell can any man or woman live on a part time wage in this day and age the good thing is because of the strike and the backlog of mail there is loads of overtime to supplement there basic hours so for some postmen its a god send before crimbo.
  24. ah cynic the dreaded percentage issue i dont know about you but i take very little if any notice of percentages but more on results of the party in charge or in this goverments case lack of results. in the case of percentages and off topic one of my sons works for royal mail so in our house we get blurb of royal mail and the union. the union say that 76% of staff voted for the strike quite a big vote you think till you look further into it. as only 40% of royal mail staff bothered to vote, 76% of 40% of staff is not as high as it first seems, so perhaps people who cant be arsed to vote get what they deserve if you dont vote then you really cant complain.
  25. yes the letter was a pisstake or parody but based on real facts, the sad thing is that somebody came up with this agricultural policy in the first place and now its not working and the rpa cant cope with the complicated paperwork involved in processing the farmers claims, someone has to take the blame and it cant be the goverment can it. its just a pity that the department that processed there expense claims sent them out as they wouldnt have to pay them back glad you did not mention the hospitals like you i would have ranted all day.
