Gah! M.O.T. time
Damn! Booked my dragstar in for saturday - and was supposed to have the week off before hand, but I've had to work all last week and so didn't have time to look over the bike... Only failed on the rear tyre, but that means no bike for 3/4 days!! I'm gonna have to catch the sodding train to work...

125 Dragstar maxing at 50-55 - Help?
It can be a bit tricky, although it's well worth knowing how to do... I never did it on my 125 dragstar, but on the 650 it's not so much "hard" as just "a bit of a pain"... Do you have a manual?

scaryy as.....
I work for a college that teaches the IMIA (Institute of Motor Industry Award) Motorcycle Maintenance up to level 2, and we're moving into Motor Vehicle and level 3 as of next year... Reading and writing are covered and students can fail if their literary skills are as bad as niiick's - I don't see how he will cope at University. Also - If he has replaced the pads two weeks ago, and now they're "shot" I would think that HE has done something wrong.

Just a quickie.....
I had been wondering, glad you're alright. The boards have been slow since you've been gone...

Yeah, maybe we just have a different perspective to you. To me, logic would suggest that - since it was raining, you would be more likely to fall off. And a pretty girl fluttering her eyelashes at me, wouldn't change my mind. This may be true, but from where I'm sitting - you certainly sound like one.

TAX DISC STOLEN !
Legally you have to display your tax disc If it is stolen, report it to the police, get a crime number and you should be able to get a replacement for free. Your giving the police far too much faith, I was pulled over for displaying an out of date tax disc - which is not an offence if you've also got an in date tax disc showing! The cop was behind me in stationary traffic for fifteen minutes - rush hour, town center - lots of people watching as I made a fool out of him lol btw what sort of tax disc holder are you using? Mine is a pain in the arse to change when the tax runs out, which also mean's it's not too easy to steal...

xvs 125 dragstar cold engine problem (??)
My first thought is the side stand, (assuming that you're not just trying to shift into first with the stand still down) I'd have a look at the bit of metal at the pivot of the stand - the bit that triggers the switch to make sure you don't ride away with the stand down... if it's a bit loose that could be causing your problem - that makes sense? I seem to recall someone else on here having the same problem not so long ago - you could trall the achives if you've got time...

Difference between xvs650 and xvsa650
Why the hell would you want to??? Personal opinions aside: You can't just do a straight swap, but nothings impossible eh...

Let me down :(
I've done it myself, and heard MANY stories of people trying to make their bike run better, only to make it worse - or even unridable... The "built by a craftman - ridden by a twat" is from a t-shirt I saw at a bike show - it sums up a fair few bike riders I know (no insult intended foamy!) I've never had to worry about getting past 30mph, but I still find myself "tinkering" with a bike that is running perfectly well - even when, on one occation it cost me... well I could never bring myself to add up the total costs but it involved 3 months off the road for that bike and me having to buy another bike so I could get to work... (bad times) The moral of the story (for me at least) is - if you want a better bike - you have to start by buying a better bike...

Yamaha XVS 250cc 2004 Model
First things first - Welcome to the forum! (and to yamaha ownership) You might not like what I'm about to say, but remember - it's just my opinion, others on here might be a bit nicer about it... Oh dear... (In my humble opinion) There is no point in 250 cruisers - you may as well have got a 125 as there's very little difference between the two and the 650 is just miles better. The bike is rare, so parts and accessories are gonna be hard to find and expensive. Selling might also be a major ball-ache. I wouldn't buy one at that price. (you can get a 650 for that kinda money) A BOX?!?!?!?!?!! ON A CRUISER?!?!?!?!!!!! GTFO... Panniers(saddlebags), sissy bar with rack + luggage, tankbag - but no box! Have a look at http://www.jafrum.com/ We wouldn't be on the Yamaha Owners Club if we prefered Hondas now would we?? Ride safe ay...

Let me down :(
That's usually the case. "built by a craftman - ridden by a twat" If Yamaha have spent millions on R&D - why do I think I can make it better?
