  1. You have to take the 2 airboxes off first, then the stiff hoses that lead to the carbs. This should give you enough slack in order to take the carbs off the stiff hoses that lead to the intake manifold. This is the easy way to take it off and the ONLY way to put it back on. We just cleaned our 1978 XS400 carbs yesterday.
  2. My uncle's bike (1978 XS400) hasn't been turned on for about 2 years. It's in great cosmetic shape; only 3,000 miles; no rust. It was not stored properly in Chicago. It would not start. Replaced the battery, it would crank but not turn over. Then we cleaned the carbs and it started only with the kick start (after a few tries). It started once with the electric starter. The problem now is that it idles weird. We adjusted it to idle around 1,500 RPM but when we roll the throttle (in neutral), the RPM would stay high (around 4-5k RPM) and would not go back down to 1,500 RPM. As we adjust the idle screw, the RPM would drop then stall. NOW it won't even start, nor would it come near to starting. We don't know what to do next. If anyone has any suggestions, let us know! Thanks.
  3. Hi everyone. I just started riding about a month ago and bought myself a 1994 FZR600R with about 16k miles (as a starter bike). Everything has been fine up until today when I noticed that my bike stalls eveytime I turn the handlebars HARD right. It happens when I'm getting ready to back up into a parking spot, or when pulling out of a parking spot, or trying to make a U-turn. Turning the handlebars hard left does not stall the bike. I want to get this fixed ASAP because I'm scared to ride it now. What if it stalls when I'm turning faster? Again, I'm new to bikes so please go easy on me. So if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you!
