  3. Hi Mark do you have a water leak to the right of the motor (when sat on it) ? which may show as an expansion tank leak (as long as the pipe is routed there) but could be a pump leak ,,,, dead shame your not over my way as you would have 'problem solved'. Does the guage get to warm within a few secs or 10 mins ? does the cyl have white streaks running down it ? .. it would be good to know all you can say ! Regards Jim
  4. Hi Mike, dont worry .... I was just pushing english to the points ! Regards Jim
  5. Hi Mark, the guage should not get over cold ... 2 strokes are better cold (so ½ way up the guage may show a problem), With coolant leaking from the expansion tank I would guess the bike is getting too warm for some reason so I would guess more info is needed ! Regards Jim
  6. Hi Drewps, they may fit but as the photo shows there is the XS650 intake 'splay' which is some what different to the 400/360/250 if you have fitted this can you give me the info so I can put the info into the 'database' Regards Jim

Hi Paul No the 'old soap box' was good it could be one of these "air cooled" FZ600 motors (that don't appear to have been made) that were cool ... but ok it's a soap powder !!! Regards Jim

Where did the post mention that ? with what you intimate I guess you think the engine is beyond redemption, if fuel is in the oil, but as the engine starts & runs I would guess the engine is still fairly healthy and we have a starting/carb issue rather than an engine decline .... We don't have the oil light on (when running as per post) nor do we have the mechanical noise (as per post) that is synonymous with 'total engine melt down' Regards Jim
  21. Hi Belvoir, I would the person in the clip was not a motorcycle rider (if he was he was well drunk). I would concure that riders from whatever country they originate from to a degree will ride safe and perhaps the 'typical yank' comment was some what out of order becuase as you state(ish) this is not typical of riders your side of the pond So perhaps look on youtube & find a 'typical Brit' video ... I'm sure there will be loads !! Regards Jim

Hi Merv Just Check out DVLA with CN57FGP & piaggio .... you will see how sad I am !!! Regards Jim
  23. Hi Sorry ment cyl #4 .... typo ! As the bike has a YICS head there is a chance that the carbs are so far out of balance (if someone has tried to balance them with not using the tool). The YICS chamber will not give correct readings to the vaccum guages unless it is shut off with the correct tool. if #1 & #2 have simular readings I would guess #3 & #4 will be simular but what reading did you get ? Regards Jim
  24. Hi Kennya, does the bike run ok or have you got a bike that will start & not pull away ? Regards Jim

Hi I guess the carbs are suffering from 'being made to soon' (worn) & would guess the leak is from the float bowl overflow. If so you need to check that the float still floats (put it in a container of fuel and see if it sinks) and the needle attched to it (check by adding fuel to the r/h carb via the r/h tap and GENTLEY) pushing the needle up .... to see if fuel still leeks past it. If so you have your problem sorted if not check the float height on the R/H carb. The starting problem may be linked or perhaps the ignition timming incorrect ... I would guess tho you have already set that up ! Regards Jim
