Spray panels
I've done a few DIY spray jobs and only on the last one I've learned that you get a bitty finish if you spray too thinly from to far away. - Which is natural when you are trying to be careful. - Obviously if you spray to close you get a run... It seems a fine art even with rattle cans to spray at the right distance to gain a glossy finish when dry. Try spraying closer with more consistent movements. If you do get a run, just let it dry for a day then sand it back gently with some very light 'in between coat' wet and dry and go over it again. I'm really pleased with my last attempt and I'd recommend doing it in daylight - not under a garage bulb as it's harder to spot the areas that you've missed. Hope this helps. BTW: Do the same with the Lacquer as otherwise it just ends up giving a frosted finish instead of adding gloss.

Metal Carb holders for FZR-400's???
I have some metal carb boots from an FZR I broke a year or two ago. I think they are from the same model that takes the 38mm (instead of 41mm) forks. I'm not certain if it's the 3EN1 or earlier. The 3EN2 (which is mainly what most of my project bits are for) uses rubber boots. Hope this helps.

Big Bore or Engine Swap on SR125 - Daft I know!
I've minted up a running SR125 (like seriously gone to town on it! - hacked the exhaust and fitted a custom slash pipe, cut and plastex'd the rear fender to make it less fugly, with replacement bullet rear brake light etc - full bright yellow! respray with Yamaha 50th Anniversary speed square decals) I'm ready to hit the road, but the engine is the made from the best of the worst bits from 3 knackered bikes.... Typical top end rattle. As I've got to sort this out at some stage, does anyone know of a straight engine swap with a higher CC. ...Or a big bore kit? I'm aware that the exhaust comes out the left (instead of the right) side of the bike on the SR250, so this isn't an option unless I cut and weld the frame neck. BTW: Does anyone know if the shock springs are removable on this bike as I want to powder coat them yellow. PS: Why did I do this to begin with! it was supposed to be a commuter while I build my FZR project! - :wacko

FZR400rr wheels
A bit of a late reply, but I'll post anyway for future reference. The wheels are different and can only be swapped with some work. - It's only worth putting the 3TJ wheel in the 3EN2 as there is no benefit doing it the other way around. The 3en2 runs an 18" wheel and 140 rear tyre as standard. The 3TJ runs a 17" wheel and 150 or 160 rear tyre as standard. Off the top of my head, I think you have to shave 3mm off the sprocket carrier and machine down the spacer on one side, but make up a wider spacer on the other side (not sure which side is which) to get the chain to line up perfectly. That's as much as I know, but I'm looking out for a 3TJ wheel to do the swap on my 3EN2 at the moment.

Thundercat fork widths when fitted - center to center
Hi, I've posted an add in the wanted section for some TCAT yokes to help get my TCAT forks and front wheel properly fitted to my FZR project. What would really help, would be if anyone would be prepared to measure their Yokes, Fork Centre to Centre, just so I know I'm doing the right thing. My FZR yokes space the fork centers about 19.5cm apart. I'm guessing the TCAT should be slightly wider. Currently, I've tried fitting the forks and front wheel to my FZR yokes and the front wheel disc bolt heads rub badly on the inside of the fork legs, so I figure I need the TCAT yokes.
