CBT Coming to an end, Fancy taking my 'big' bike test...
I think people kept binning it on the swerve test because they used the front brake during the 'swerve' bit.. @Keiran, id recomend reading the page on the direct.gov site. Its boring but you will know where you stand, get it done before 2013 because its all changing again.

Bike covers?
Oxford Rainex gets my vote. Not let a drop in yet and no corrosion either.

Excessive engine sizes
Depends if you want to go travelling, the bigger engine of a 1200 would be better, less strain etc. Most people tend to have big bikes purely because they can, i cant imagine many if any people riding an r1 to its potential on the road..

Alarm fitted!
How sensitive is really sensitive? If your neighbours cat jump on it would it go off? Iv been tempted to get an alarm myself for the r6, its pretty cool that it comes with an immobiliser as standard.

Clutch Cable Has Snapped FFS!
You could have ridden okay in one gear, my brothers cluctch lever snapped once leaving him in 1st gear for his journey home as he didnt know how to change gear without using the clutch. On a serious note though, youll be fine changing it, its a straight forward job.

Security?!
I think youre thinking about almax chains? Some look reasonably priced and others expensive but if they do what they reckon it seems really worth it. Im planning on getting one soon when i can afford one . http://www.almax-sec...y-chains.co.uk/

one for the model makers (free models)
wow, old school.
-
clothes smell of oil
It may be its because the dep doesnt have a spout so the fumes arnt being directed whereas the standard one does and the one on your mito most likely did to. My bike gear always smelt of 2 stroke, i eventually got used to it.
-
clothes smell of oil
Its a 2 stroke, its pretty unavoidable im afraid.
