I was plodding along the m25 at 60mph and I had to go onto reserve but as I went to do this my engine made a weird clunk noise and cut out. I had to pull onto the hard shoulder where it started first touch of the button but has now started a rattle from the engine which rattles faster the more you rev. Does anyone have an idea what it could be as it felt pricey

They do tend to bog in 6th unless you get the revs right although i noticed a dep pipe did help a bit with this case, i duno if you have one or not?

If you had won in the 1st place then why would you still be doing it????

The only main things i can think of are 1. enjoy it! and 2. look ahead of you to see whats coming as you will be suprised by holes, ruts etc

On my dt (newer type same engine) iv done over 12000miles and havnt touched the engine yet and still feels fine to me although now iv said that iv probly jinxed myself!

You can earth the wire any where on the fram but i used the bottom yoke as theres no paint on and easy to reach,

@ Beadle: sounds a good idea, dont jump ahead of yourself with a big bike, you have all your life for that just gain as much experience as posible. My restriction comes of in december so i might just keep my DT till then because its fast enough for what i need at the moment plus its cheap to run and tax

Yeah managed to sort the leak with copper instant gasket, silicone stuff. Iv got a DEP had for around 8 months no rust at all. Gets a wipe over after every ride so all good. only problem is the poxy scuff on the expansion chamber from when i dropped it on the ice!

If you have the snorkel off you will need to re jet to make the most of it otherwise your getting too much air to fuel,

I guess it would be re mapping the bike if anything? im not sure to be honest, havnt looked at these bikes that much but you could ask a yammy dealer. Sorry i was of no real help

Firstly a mechanic is going to say that to get business from you. Took me hardly no time at all, all you do is: 1. take off headlight so you can access under your speedo. 2. find the connector block that sits just before the speedo with cables going in one side and straight out the other. 3. One of the cables doesnt have another cable coming out the otherside, this is the one you need (has a coloured stripe running up the cable red or green cant remember) 4. Either add a length of cable to the space where a cable isnt coming out opposite OR cut this cable and earth it to you frame (bottom yoke would suffice) 5. go feel the difference, biggest diiference iv felt on my bike (more than dep) and was free. Iv got the RE version and will nearly max the speedo but mines in kmh so it does around 130-135? not sure what that is in mph.

Costs absolutely nothing to de restrict a DT just around 15-20mins of your time

Was on my way home from college once in the winter on a windy day, went around a bend at around 40 ish to find a tree on the floor .... hit it launching me flying and landed on my shoulder and bike cart wheeled once or twice, Broke my collar bone on that one, must be the most anoying bone to break!

You can get some hard wearing knobblies if you wanted to (if green laning comes into account) but if just road riding then definately the distanzia i think its the 'S' version you want aswell.

Iv done it before i got the dep. Definately take it off then rub it down with wire wool then wet and dry to bare metal then hang it up somewhere ventilated by thin (strong) string then just spray it. You could use a primer first but i didnt and it was rusty again within a few months.

Paint would you prefer a sportsbike or an offroad/supermoto??

Theres alot of bandit 1200's around that look amazing seems anything can fit a streetfighter if you want it to so the skies your limit.

Theres a fair bit in terms off tuning and decals but iv kept mine with standard graphics as it goes off road so no point, depends what your after and how much you can afford at the end of the day
