just because a manual refers to a brace of machines doesnt necessarily indicate parts compatibility the engines are all very similar enough to be covered by the one manual but they are all very different machines it is a case of trial and error when swapping parts over but i would have expected the wheels and major cycle parts to be easily moved over as most Yams from the period followed a similar sizing making swing arms and forks a relatively easy thing to exchange

if you have removed the mushroom then the little ball can sometimes follow it out never to be found again

several things to check really if you have fitted a new clutch then it will need re adjusting to work properly this is achieved by turning the screw in the left hand casing until it takes up the play and then backing it off a 1/4 before locking it with the 10mm nut take any adjustment out of te cable before doing this ie give the cable more slack if this fails then you have maybe lost the little ball bearing that sits between the pushrod and the mushroom at the pressure plate end

XJ600s exhaust
the early XJ yam has always had a gasket between the down pipes and the collector box

Petrol/Oil leak?
on the SRX if the float has been leaking it will fill the crankcases with petrol hence the oily petrol drain th engine oil and refill with fresh stuff and sort the carb out

if you get stuck the lads at Tamworth Yamaha are pretty good

Unleaded or unleaded
the Japanese were gearing up for unleaded as far back as 73 so most bikes from that point can run the fuel there are a few exceptions but theses are mainly sports bikes RC30, CB1100R and that speed demon the DT50MX!!!! if you have any doubts i have all the records and spec on file

Unleaded or unleaded
every yam since 1982 has been designed to run on unleaded with many able to do this well before that point there are some exceptions but unless you have a race bike or a DT50MX i wouldnt worry about it

there is a similar manual to the kawasaki one called Yamaha special tools and service manual printed @ 76 time i have a copy but i wouldnt say it actually tells you how to build cranks anymore than the Kwak book does i can copy the relevant pages for you if you wish i know CMM magazine in teh UK are doing something soon on the subject but there is no substitute for getting stuck in im afraid
