Bit of a long shot!
Hi all I'm in the process of rebuilding an XT350 as is a mate and he is stuggling with the front caliper for his (i.e. he hasn't got one). We tried fitting my caliper to his to check it was trhe same but is doesn't fit, we also tried a TT350 caliper that I bought thinking it would fit straight on mine (anybody need one???? let me know) and this also doesn't fit as the fixing lugs on his fork leg are much farther apart than on mine. The fixing bolt centres are about 100mm apart on his forks. Any body any ideas what might fit?? Cheers

xt 350 driveshaft
Hope you don't mind me jumping in but I have had the engine in and out of my XT350 3 times on my own with just a trolley jack to take the weight, I also haven't got a paddock stand but I am quite bloody minded when it comes to getting something done.

Removing shock bolt
Hi all Any suggestions on removing a siezed shock bolt? the steel bolt has seized into the alloy "rocker" on the bottom of the linkage. The shock turns freely on the sleeve as the bushes were all replaced a couple of years ago but no amount of persuasion, heat' WD40 etc seems to get it moving. Somebody must have some ideas, I've tried the biggest hammer I've got but I think it willl damage the rocker if I give it any more grief. Thanks

xt 350 driveshaft
If you're interested, I've got a complete bottom end that is supposed to be OK. I bought it to spare having to rebuild the bottom end of mine when the crank went but then got offered a complete engine with low miles at a good price, so couldn't refuse really. I wasn't brave enough to tackle rebuilding the bottom end myself. If your interested let me know, I'm in Cumbria but have had both engines sent by carrier with no problems. Cheers

best tips for stripping a frame?
Hi all I'm underway with my first rebuild and wondered what the suggestions were for stripping the paint off the frame of my XT. Dont really want to spend the money on sandblasting so wondered if it was the wire brush in the drill or whether paint stripper was any good. All advice greatly recieved Thanks Hoggy

XT350 Brake Calipers
I tried the same and couldn't get much help anywhere, but here's a tip, the caliper on a TT350 is not the same. The mounting lugs on the fork leg are slightly further apart. I found out the hard way by buying one on ebay, got the master cylinder and braided hose with it as well so it wasn't all bad. Good luck Hoggy

Extra CDi? XT350
I'm sorting out the wiring on an 85 XT350 which was a field bike for a short spell - no its not that bad! - most of the loom is still there but has been hacked about some. At preset there are the wires coming up from the engine to the CDI and coil and to the stop button but nothing else. When i traced it out the wiring diagram it shows 2 x "control boxes" and 1 x appears to be under the clocks on a set of clocks I've bought. The engine runs without the second box being wired up so what does it do?

Whats this for ?? - XT350
Thats the easy way out! I'm curious and want to know what its for more than anything.

Whats this for ?? - XT350
I've just put a newer engine (don't know the age but probably an import as the clocks off it are in KM) into my 85 XT350 but the crankcase breather is different, on the original engine it went straight from the cases up to the airbox, the new engine has a longer breather with a T-piece in it. All the manuals I have or have seen even for the newer bikes show the same breather as my original engine.Anybody know?? I would add a picture but don't seem to be able to do it.

Supermoto wheels on an XT350
Anybody know if the front wheel off a DT or XT 125 super mot fit straight in an XT350 or if you need spacers etc, a lot of the DTR stuff seems to match the XT350. any advice?

getting more from xt350
TTS do a big bore kit for it heres there repsonse to my enquiry:- we can supply a JE piston in 88mm (362cc) for xt350, piston comes with pins, rings & locks. cost £188inc vat & post, you will need to use a stock head gasket opened out to suit. we can rebore your barrel if required for £50. give us a ring on 01327 858212 if you wish to order best regards Paul Good luck!

Have you solved this one yet?

IT 175 the project starts here :-)
I'm trying to rebuild an XT350 and struggling to get anyone in Cumbria to do an engine rebuild, I bought it"just needing a set of rings" (it was cheap though!) and then found out when i stripped it it needs rings, a rebore and piston and the crank re-doing. Nearest place I've found that would supply parts and do the job was in Stoke, a 2 hour journey. I also found once I bought it that the XT350 engine is unique to that bike and getting a decent one off ebay etc costs a fortune if you can findone. cheers

Might be a silly answer but have yuo tried DVLC , if the bikes been registered they should be able to tell you its original reg number. The other one would be to ring Yamaha UK and get them to write to verifying the age. Good luck with the rebuild.

anyone know?
Any one know if any other bikes share the XT350 motor or if anything else fits in as a swap?
