Levers?
Wife has got a set of CRG Roll a Click levers (these come in a shorty or normal length) from Demon Tweekes, on her Fazer 600, she is happy with them,, she only has small hands and the stretch with the normal lever on the clutch side was a bit of a strain.....

2 QUESTIONS
Without being there to here the noise ???? still may be cam chain ??
-
2 QUESTIONS
" For example, imagine you are looking at the chain front on as if you were about to remove the chainguard. Look at the swingarm, and on the underside of it comes out what looks like a cable (at least its black, and cable-like), which goes.....nowhere. Its sticks out about 4-5 inches and just ends. No idea what that could be." Bike could have had a Scot Oiler fitted some Time in the past, that could be the pipe that goes to the chain ?? follow it back a see where it goes to.

2 QUESTIONS
Idle speed should be 1200 to 1300 rpm........... Does the noise go when you pull the clutch in ?? Weather you take it to a garage or do it your self is up to you ,,, do you have the tools and gauges to do the carb balance ?? its not a real hard job, ]but it is the one job I would do first ,,, would you be able to change the cam chain if needed ?? you could use a split cam chain,, other wise it is a full engine strip, but if you go down the split chain route, it is a job I would want some one in the know to do !! a mistake would mean a new engine !! Try finding out where abouts in the engine the noise is comming from, get a longish screew driver, put it to the engine then rest your ear against the handle, move around the engine till you find where the noise is the loadest, this may give you a clue to where the problem is .............. PS. did you reinstall the cam chain tensioner "by the book" or just shove it back in as it came out ??

2 QUESTIONS
1 yes a normal multimeter will do the job just fine,,,,,,,,,,, 2 as rockerted, it could be the clutch rattling,, or it may be that the carbs need balancing, again, yes it could be the cam chain,, how many miles has the bike done ?? over bout 40k then it is likley.. or may be the chain guides are worn ? when did the bike last have an oil and filter change ? has this been done on a regular basis. 3 Had the same problem on my Fazer Thou, turned out to be the little plug had pulled out of the switch.

just had my r6 derestricted...
I think he means the washers that go in the inlet betwen the head and carbs to reduce the inlet tract size, if you take these out you may have to rejet the carbs and may be lift the needle as well ?? you need to do a plug chop, make sure the engine ain`t running weak or you could end up with burnt out valves...... I seem to have read somewhere about the spacers in the top of the slides to restrict full throtle.

Another newbie. It's ugly...
Good news then souunds like you are on your way !! Hope you used the red rubber lube ?? cos normal grease or oil ain`t good for brake parts and can cause the seals to expand and lock the pistons...

Another New Boy!
Hiya and welcome......................... You sure he was/is a mate ???? The Fazer is a fine bike and i am sure you will sort it out with a little elbow grease and time Good thing is, there are plenty of parts on EBay for the 98/2003 Fazers so no problems if you find something completly shagged, you should be able to pick up an original set of pipes quite cheaply or a new set in stainless for about £180, check out the Fazer site linky guy on there goes under the name of "deefer" sells a few spares and can also supply batteries at a good price. I changed all the fixing on the wifes Fazer to Stainless, again, these where all bought on EBay

My new '78 xs400
Pipes look a little on the blue side,, looks like she could be running a bit weak/hot ?? The running on could be caused by an air leak on the inlet stubs ??

sr125 begining to be a pain
Don`t oil the speedo cable !! pull the inner cable out, then clean it, and very lightly oil it but leave the last 6" before it goes into the speedo head dry,,, if oil gets into the speedo head it will bugger it up ...

Moto GP 2009
The big problem with Kawasaki is they are so far wide of the mark in Moto GP, that to catch up they would have to pump in a hell of a lot of money, as you say the state of the economy at the moment just won`t allow his sort of investment and it must be getting harder and harder to find big money sponsers as well. It is bad news though, Honda has allready pulled out of car GPs, may be this will be the excuse they need to withdraw from Moto GP as well ?? who knows ?? could be that the GPs this year will be cancelled !! or may be run with WSB !! all really bad news PS,may be this should be in `general`

hooking up battery on 1974 dt125a
Sounds like the battery needs charging or is completly naff........
-
Another newbie. It's ugly...
Hiya,, Noticed the bike has a kick start, have you tried kick starting the bike with the battery hooked up ? use full choke and no revs. Looking at the state of the bike, the carbs will be full of crap and need a clean out and the fuel tap filter will be full of crap, the brakes will more than likley need a master cly overhaul kit and new caliper seals, the rear is a drum brake, so have you tried adjusting it ? if that don`t work a new set of brake shoes will be needed.

waving of the leg
It`s the way they do it in France. If a bike is aproching you then the rider will give you a wave below the level of the bars in the form of two fingers in the form of a V, (this is not normaly done on motorways ) if a bike over takes you then a they will normaly wave with the right leg as they pass you, if you overtake a car and he pulls over for you then it is polite to acknowldge him/her by waving your right leg, car drivers in France are more `bike aware` than in any other country, and will move over for you, weather in town, in traffic or the open road and usualy they will indicate there invitation to overtake by putting on there left or right indicators. May be a bit different than the `states` where i belive you can`t even filter in traffic, or if you exceed 55mph it`s a hanging offence
