  1. Could be caused by Detonation Have a look HERE and HERE for more info Just one of the problems we had to be aware of when setting up the TZ and TD Yams jetting and ignition for racing. Pitting/sandblasted look of both the cylinder heads and piston crowns are a sure sign of two stroke detonation.

""hmm sounds like the cdi could have the Co2 limmiter set wrong on it so its starving you of fule because its hiting its maximum Co2 limmit you can remove it but i carnt remember how also im not sure you have it on the R6 but it seems nearly all yamahas have this (newer ones)"" The 2000 R6 is a carbed bike ! What pipe and air filter have you got fitted ?? did you fit them or did they come with the bike ??

I always have a matched set of tyres on my bikes, Bridgestone of coarse, also recomend the same !! like wise Yamaha. 180/55 ZR17 and Bridgstone recomend 2.9 bar tyre pressure
  4. Best to get an engineering shop to do it, some one like these PEOPLE may be worth a ring ? The head needs to be heated up and the guide pressed out, the new one pressed in and the valve seat recut.

Based on may be closer !! Some parts may be interchangable,, oil filter, crankcase covers, but I don`t think I know of any person thats turned a Fazer 600 or Thou, 1998 to 2009 into an Thundercat, R6 or R1 by swoping engine parts between the models, may be if you swop the engines ?? but that would be a major job cos as far as I know the mounting points are different, as are the electrics.
  6. May be worth trying a new set of spark plugs ?? if it`s a high miler do a compression test. it may be low on a couple of cylinders.

Not just the ECU and cams,,, so is the compresion ratio, also the fuel injection system and the gearbox ratio`s and prob more !! I don`t think there is very much that you can swop between the two bikes. Remember, if you take the restrictors off, then you will not be covered by your insurance.

It Won`t come on often in this country !!! well not unless we have a very warm summer ?? the only times the cooling fan came on on the wifes Fazer was in the south of France and if she leaves the bike running at a stand for a long while. I fitted a over ride switch in the fan circuit so she could turn the fan on when we are in slow/stopped traffic, if she thought the engine was getting a little too warm, no real need for it but just helps keeps the oil a little cooler, we usualy have a couple of biking holidays a year over on the continent, but for this country there is realy no need. The Haynes manual gives details of how to check both the fan operation and the temp light. The owners Manual is HERE

Try adding a little more oil, obviously don`t over fill, when hard braking, accelerating or leaned hard over in corners, the oil level light may just flicker a couple of times.
  11. You will more than likley need to book some Dyno time and some one who knows what they are doing to set the fueling up properly, it may even need a Power Commander to get the best out of the new system.
  12. Check out EBay from £20 to £80 for the motor

Simple answer is no,, unless TomTom do patch leads to suite whatever radio you decide to use then as far as your mate goes it`s a no. If you are using AutoCom then it could be a yes,, cos they do supply patch leads for differant radios, unless of coarse you are handy with a soldering iron and are good at reading radio circuit diagrams you could make up your own radio leads ?? For radios look HERE OR HERE OR HERE OR HERE MAY BE HERE for Autocom LOOK HERE AS with most things "you get what you pay for " a cheap Midland will never perform as well as an Icom, Yausu or Kenwood, with the cheaper radios, don`t expect more then about 1 Km for reliable communiction at speeds above 30mph, we use the Icom`s these are a good solid radio and have had clear speach at 80mph + and a range of more than 2 miles,, but they ain`t cheap !!!!

Yamaha don`t list the body and O ring, only the compleat master cly, looks like you may have a problem getting new parts.
  17. steve m replied to J.D.'s post in a topic in The Bar
Yep they do seem to get neglected,, out of sight out of mind !! that is till they go wrong !! Sounds like You may have been lucky and the valve has seized "open " bout the only thing you can do is keep giving the bolts a squrit with penatrating oil and hope they free up. You could also try disconnecting the cables at the exup valve, leave then in position but disconect from the pulley, this should stop the rev counter displaying the fault code.
  18. steve m replied to J.D.'s post in a topic in The Bar
Fault code for the TPS would be the rev counter showing 3000 rpm for 3 secs,,,,,so if the rev counter is showing 8000 rpm it can`t be the TPS ..
  19. steve m replied to J.D.'s post in a topic in The Bar
First prob!! 8000 rpm is the Fault code for the Exup Valve............ Means ether your Exup valve is stuck and needs a clean and lube or the Exup servo motor is faulty. Second prob !! Check your battery, it may need charging or could be on it`s way out ? then again it could just be a bad connection.

The oil warning light on the R6 is a oil level warning light, the oil should be kept to the max level mark.

We have talked about doing a week at the Manx, don`t think the cost for accomadation is so bad then and we are all ready booked off work for manx week, not sure though, we do about 30 race meetings a year as Marshalls and some times you need a break from it !!
  24. steve m replied to Madison Motorsport's post in a topic in General
Not been for about 15 years !! we used to Marshall the 33rd and Kates Cottage, the old lass was still alive when we where there, mind you she was a "real character" she used to do dinner for us when we where on that section. We are life members of the TT marshals association, but due to the high cost of getting there with 2 bikes and the silly cost of accomadation we stopped going. In those days you got no help at all with expenses.
