Hi, dont know if anyone can help... I am lowering my 2007 R6 my aprox 30mm drop. By my not very mechanically minded head, i think this will make the side stand a bit too long. Can anyone tell me if i can adjust where the side stand is fixed or will actually need to worry about the side stand or know if an older model R6 or R1 has a shorter side stand that would fit my 07 R6. I seem to recall the 2004 R1 is a lower bike than the 07 R6. Any advice much appreciated. BTW - already looked into cutting and welding the existing stand, problem is they are made of monkey metal and if i weld it, the stand will crack under the R6 weight.

when is the best time to advertise bike bits and bobs? I know jan is the longest month in the year cashwise and traditional bike season really kicks off properly again easter, so when is a good time to start ebaying some bits i have?

I have just px my 2004 R6 I have just picked up my 2007 R6!!!! wow what a difference. Will try and post some pics on the site soon. I am about to put some bits on ebay from my 2004 R6 if anyone is interested - all in v.good condition. I have: a Scorpion backbox smoked screen seat cowel. Currently professionally painted in Yamaha Silver And no bike specific Yamaha shirt - size medium B-Square back protector - size small There maybe more as i sort bits and bobs out. Anyway if you are interested get hold of me or keep an eye out on ebay, i will be auctioning in next couple of days

Hi Just wondered if someone could give some advise or opinions. The devil sat on my shoulder and told me to go and look at my local Yamaha dealer to see what prices i could get an 04 era R1 or a nearly new R6 for. Turns out they are similar price. Anyway i have a 2004 immacualte R6 with only 7k on the clock and all the papers etc etc etc and they offered me a very low px price. I then went to bike shope not that far from me who had a 07 R6 for 6k and offered me 3500 px for mine which i thought was not bad at all. Another place only offerred 2500. Thats a massive difference. I have seen similar sell for around 4k marker on piston heads so have just added mine on there. What should i expect private if a shop offer 3500? Is there anywhere i can advertise that gets better interest etc? Should i look to ebay or is pistonheads a good start? I tried to pay for upgrading my a/c to advertise here but the payment option did not appear so could not proceed. Thanks for any advise.

Went to look at a 2007 R6 today with the idea of selling my 2004 R6 - also ended up looking at a 2005 R1 - now im torn on what to do. My 2004 is mint with low miles, so i dont know whether i am wasting my money swapping over or not I know what i would get private sale, and px. The dealership gave me a fairly accurate price from their glasses guide. I have only been riding a couple of years, so not sure if the R1 would be the best move at the moment. Any thoughts...

Hi I have only been bike for 2 years so am a complete novice when it comes to maintenance. I need to change the spark plugs on my 2004 R6 Are there any special tools i need Is there a basic how to guide somewhere on this forum (i have tried a search) I have seen a set of 4 NGK spark plugs via Ebay for £20. Is this about the right price, and recommended plugs? Many thanks

Anyone know if you can get the short GP style exhaust as per on the later R6's to fit my 2004 R6? Think they look a lot nicer than the standard 2004 can Cheers

Hi Need to order some touch up paint/spray paint from a company on the web. however they need a paint code. Anyone know where they are on a 2004 R6? I have seen a white sticker under the seat, however im not quite sure if this is it and if so which reference will mean something to them? Anyone help Thanks Rich

Sorry for the pic but the only images of my actual Yam is on Facebook so was not sure how well that would work here. Anyway, can anyone confirm that this is Yamaha Liquid Silver? If so/if not can anyone tell me the paint code for the bike shown in the pic. Its a 2004 R6 BTW. I have just bought a seat cowl and want to get paint to colour match. TIA Rich

On closer inspection, my bike has some cheap after market levers that are not pressing the switch in correctly that turns on and off the brake light. Rang Yamaha today to enquire about factory original brake lever and they wanted £50!!! Can anyone recommend some after market levers that will not be loads and loads that actually fit properly? TIA

thanks for the quick reply. Its defo from the lever rather than rear brake and does not appear to be sticking. The lever and the sensor appear to be making light contact therefore putting the lights on (even though not applying any braking). If you push the lever forward slightly it disengages the contact and lights go off? May drop by to Brackley Yamaha tomorrow and see what they say. Will post a pic tomorrow. Cheers though

Hi all Wonder if someone can advise me. Got pulled over the other day whilst out on my 04 R6 (luckily not by the police) but by another biker who flagged me down. Basically said that my brake light was permanently on except when i appeared to go over a bump. On closer inspection this is in fact true. The lever appears to be permenantly touching a small metal disc (could be the switch?) that is aprox 5p in size. Is there an adjustment i can do to the switch or anything? Any advice appreciated Rich

Hi, Can anyone tell me how the bodywork of the R6 changed from the 99-2003 model to the 2004 model? Basically i have seen a guy selling a seat cowl that fits a 1999-2003 model and im trying to find out if it would also fit a 2004 model?? TIA Rich

Ok, im new to biking to please bare with me. I have a 2004 R6 and was wondering how easy and if at all i can adjust the position of my clutch lever. My brake lever has a 1-5 dial on it but the clutch side does not. I have smallish hands and find im getting pains in the back of my hand after lots of clutch work and wondered if i can adjust the lever so my hand is not at full stretch? TIA
