Coppins scored second position overall at Coolum in Queensland last weekend in what was the tenth and final round of the series. The 35 year old picked up seven moto victories and posted fantastic 21 top three finishes in the 30 motos run over the course of the contest. It was the fifth consecutive championship for the Australian CDR team. “This ranks highly for me,” said the New Zealander, who spent three seasons as a factory Yamaha racer in the FIM MX1-GP World Championship. “No domestic c

The most obvious question…how do you feel after several weeks back riding? Things have been going quite good. In the first week it was pretty difficult and I was feeling very stiff after the first sessions on the bike but I found the rhythm quite quickly. I’m still too slow of course but it is building up slowly. At the beginning I was a bit sore on the bike but that was normal and one leg did feel stronger than the other but everything is fine physically. So you’ve temporarily escaped the

Van Horebeek is finding an effective rhythm and feeling on the works YZ450FM and showed positive speed in just his second outing on the new motorcycle. The circuit at Noto was bumpy and technical but ‘JVH’ attacked the surface with confidence. Jeremy had to work in the first sprint to recover from a mid-top ten start but was able to find room past Todd Waters and other GP peers to reach second spot. A top three launch in the next moto put him right at the front from the get-go but Cairoli’s hole

The 2011 MX1 vice-champion had a pin inserted in the foot to stabilise the break on Easter Monday in Belgium, the day of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. Frossard has since been recuperating and felt comfortable enough to throw his leg over the works YZ450FM to ride on Wednesday with a special protective plate inserted in his boot. After some rigorous laps ‘183’ gave his team the thumbs-up. “The operation went well and it wasn’t long before I started to feel good with my foot,” he said. “

I feel better but now I’m frustrated because it is not possible to get back on the track again yet. It feels strange to be here [at Matterley] and not be thinking about the races. I have no pain, I feel strong and the doctor is happy with the work that has been done. He says the operation fixed the wrists and made them stronger even more than the surgery I had last year and of course with my job that is important! What’s the next step? I’m due a check-up soon and then together with the

Potisek earned a top ten finish at Maggiora for the Italian round of the series last month and held the red plate early in the year in the competitive French national MX1 championship; a contest in which he today remains less than thirty points from first position. He is also a beach race specialist and was runner-up in the prestigious Enduropale Le Touquet event in February. Frossard is aiming to be back on his factory YZ450F for the British Grand Prix next month after successful surgery o

"I'm really happy to continue with Monster Energy Yamaha because I think it is one of the best teams in the FIM World Championship," said the racer. "I'm also happy that Michele [Rinaldi] and Yamaha Motor Europe wanted to keep me and they trust me. It was an easy decision to sign another contract. We had already been talking since the start of the year and I feel like I have a home here." "Securing Steven was a priority for us because we all saw his pace and potential in a first excellent sea

Joel, obvious question, how are you feeling and how is the build-up to be back on the bike? JR: Quite good! I had a fitness text last Thursday and my level was really good, which I was glad to hear about. At the moment I have around 65% strength in my leg and I’m working on improving that in the next couple of weeks. I have been doing a lot of upper body training because this is an important stage of the year to be ready for next season. I’ll be on the 450 now so strength work has been key. All

Loket may have remodelled their layout to include a new jump and corner section and moved the start gate back to the original position but the course was still stony and slippery and tested the full range of a rider's feel for traction and grip. The technical edge was increased by the hard-pack around what is otherwise a flowing and relatively easy racing course.   Watched by 24,000 spectators Febvre set-off from his second Pole Position of the season won through Saturday's Qualification Heat. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard will sadly not be able to contest the Grand Prix of Italy at Fermo this weekend for the fifteenth and final round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The Frenchman had initially planned to enter the meeting after feeling no ill effects in the wake of his crash last Sunday at Gaildorf in Germany. The winner of the Swedish and French rounds of the MX1-GP series this year went for further examination on his chest in Belgium this week and was found to

Monster Energy Yamaha’s David Philippaerts could be back on a motocross track in as little as three months after a thorough and extremely successful operation yesterday afternoon at Spedali Civili di Brescia hospital. The former MX1-GP World Champion suffered fractures to both wrists after a crash during the first moto of the Grand Prix of Sweden at Uddevalla last Sunday. The Italian flew home for an operation that would involve replacement of the plates he had installed after his accident la
