  8. Replaced the front indicators this morning and sorted the speedo. Now tackling the switch gear, kill button was not working and the starter button was missing. Lucky I have loads of spares that came with the bikes. Waiting for front caliper seal kits x two, then I can get the front brakes working. Tony.
  9. Yeah It's a job to be done when the engine is back in the bike.
  10. Is it actually adjustable? I'm not sure if it will make much difference. My eyes ARE however drawn to your primary drive. That's a LOT of wear. You need a new drive chain (primary, chain, secondary)..!
  11. the response that occurs to me is that, here in the uk anyway, one has to be a little bit careful not to upset motorists, road rage, things kicking off etc so i would think twice about hovering behind a car with full beam on as one wouldn't want to nuisance/irritate them. as preciously mentioned, led running lights or spotlights aren't quite so intrusive especially if set lower.
  12. Morning. The starter motor was not engaging properly so I have taken the alternator cover off for a look see. There apears to me mucho slack in the starter chain, is this normal? I have about 15mm of slack? :( Or shall I just do away with the electric starter altogether.
  13. Regulation 27 (Restrictions on the use of lamps) https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/regulation/27 The Highway Code says to use dipped headlights in daylight if visibility is reduced, and to only use main beam when it won’t dazzle others. Using main beam in the day isn’t illegal per se, the law says main beam headlights must not be used if they cause dazzle or discomfort to other road users. During bright daylight, they usually won’t dazzle, but in lower light or if you’re directly behind someone, they can. So technically it’s not outright banned, but if it’s judged to be dazzling, it can be an offence.
  14. Try lifting the back wheel, get someone to lean on the front end, put it in gear and rag the wheel round with your foot. That should put a bit of strain on it.
  15. hmm.. that's a novel approach ha-ha.
  16. I just work on the principle of: Attempting to make myself look menacing... Doing what I can to make them think "I don't want him to get off his bike and come for 'a chat'..!" Things like looking at them with my neck rather than just my eyes (points my helmet directly at them), squaring off my shoulders (make myself look bigger), stuff like that. I'd love to say I think it's all crap, that there's no way the average driver wouldn't be able to tell from whatever distance. But... It does strangely seem to work. I see drivers do a double take from time to time. You know when you're shopping and you feel like someone's looking at you, and after looking around for a while you catch some bored kid vacantly staring at you (because you've got purple hair or a biker jacket on or something)? Maybe it's like that? lol
  17. somebody correct me but i don't believe we are alowed to travel about during the day on main headlight beam here in the UK, not withstanding adventure bike style high level spotlights have the same effect. I've installed a couple of led spotliughts for improved daytime visibiity but not connected then up as yet, something I've done on previous motorcycles, they do help with filtering as they attract the attention of motorists ahead going in the same direction.
  18. True but there is less force on the output shaft as much lower torque. I was hoping I may hear a difference to identify the fault, but windnoise and bike noise make it too hard.
  19. Well it's been almost two weeks of me driving like an ass with my full beam on, well day time only. Haven't had one person pull out yet. Obvisouly on a small time line and a sample size of one this could be totally irrelevant. But feels like people are seeing me easier.
  20. The chain is still moving if your back wheel is... Take that chain off and spin it up!
  21. Guess it's one of those things, it depends. Where I live I don't get the luxury of nice open roads, I'm about 10km from the city so my riding is nearly all city type riding. I don't think IAM would run courses in this type of enviroment. I just try and ride defensively always.
  22. Yeah I'm scared to take it for the next service, and can't be assed to take the chain off and spin the wheel to check. I've tried pulling the clutch in when riding and the sound doesn't appear to change that much, so hopefully it is the wheel bearing.
  23. I thought my output shaft bearings were going a couple of years ago. There was quite a bit of trepidation..! Turns out I needed a new chain... ... lol
  24. i don't know alex, we know where we are going and look ahead for potential dangers anyway don't we? Best not to be in a hurry. Staying in control, owning the road - that is easier if there's space ahead so leaving a gap behind the car in front is surely good enough. So many vehicles are bulky with dark windows which doesn't help but nevertheless not sufficient reason to go for overtakes - I stay in line unless it gets really tedious. Eventually you get to clearer areas.
  25. The wheel bearings are easy to do, I'm just not entirely confident it's not the output shaft bearings. Fingers crossed it's the wheel bearings. Just coming up to 25k now, that's KM. I was thinking normal lifespan would be 40-50k. I do ride my bike in all weather though and Sydney can be very humid which could have accelerated wear.
  26. I read the book as a PDF a long time ago, the part which struck me the most saccadic masking which I never knew about. Really explains those moments when you're about to pull out of a junction thinking it's open and brake oh there's a car you didn't see. Makes you realise how much easier this is to occur to bike riders when we're a third of the size. Video here explains it, apparantly we're all completly blind for about 40mins a day due to this masking. Our vision is almost an illusion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOz7buiQ7G0 Oh forgot to add I spoke to someone last week who explained the concept of progression makes you safer because it forces you to plan ahead, commit to actions with confidence, reduce unpredictability, and stay in control of the traffic situation. It should be about smooth, safe efficiency, not speed for its own sake.
  27. they have always been marginal at best. Think I welded a plate under each one after checking the pivot wasn't worn
  28. getting there 😊
  29. Wheels cleaned and fitted. Center stand does not seem big enough to hold the bike properly, will fudge it for now with a bit of wood. I expect once the bike is done I will just stick with the side stand and take it off.

Hi, Does anyone do 3d scanning? I have the fillets on the TDM which are starting to breakup do to their age. They are only about 10" long and 4" high and are handed. If I can get them scanned, then i could have them 3D printed TNX
