i have the problem with my "lights" fuse keeps blowing when ever i put a fuse in,

the light switch can be off but as soon as i turn the key on it blows the fuse,

i have tried wiring bits up on by one but this came to no avail,

any ideas on what the problem is?

Just sounds like a plain straight forward short. Given the age of the bike its probably rubbed the plastic casing of the cable and shorting on the frame. I had a similar problem on my 1989 xj600 took a while to find it, a lot of tight turns and rough edges in the wiring harness, i found quite a few future problem areas while looking so they got sorted as well.

found it, was a short, took my time to find it but its sorted now, ive replaced most wires and recovered others now,
