Posted December 13, 200717 yr Just bought a 2nd hand micron race can & linkpipe for my 96 yzf750 off ebay. After fitting will i need to set up/tune the engine to the new exhaust? Will it affect the exup valve, the way it works & the way the bike runs etc? Any advice will be appreciated. p.s. i'll be adding pics of my bike this weekend
December 13, 200717 yr Assuming that the baffles are still fitted, then no but it might be a little lean on the mixture. Most exhausts are for looking not performance.
December 14, 200717 yr Probably benefit from rejetting the carbs but it's not critical. I've got a custom race can on my bike and not bothered fiddling with the carbs.
December 14, 200717 yr How will you get it through the MOT? Mine also gets through MOTs with no baffle Just need to go to the right place for the MOT
December 15, 200717 yr My Akrapovic goes through an MOT with no hassle at all even if it did seem louder than usual on the day. Getting through on a stubby would be trickier and I decided not to risk it. Changing the pipes over doesn't take long so it might be worth just checking with the tester and swapping it for the MOT if it's too loud.
