Hi guys.

After initially posting a question about which bike to get I finally got mine last week wednesday. I only managed to take her out for a ride to work yesterday and what a ride it was fantastic. (it is a 2004 yamaha r6 with 7500 on the clock).

As I was riding on the dual carriage way and giving it a decent amount of revs gearchanging was no problem at all but when going down a 30mph stretch after pulling away I changed through the gears but going from 3rd to 4th I pulled the clutch in as per usual and lifted the gear lever with my foot and it clicked as if to engage but when I let the clutch out it just reved as though I had put it into neutral. I pulled in the clutch and had another go and it did the same not allowing me to change up but it would change down no problem. This happened a number of times but it would change to 4th if I gave it more revs in 3rd.

A friend suggested the selector might not be rotating all the way round as my gearchange might need more rotation of the gearselector and suggested when going home to lift the gearlever using my leg(leg moving up while using foot to change obviously) and to see if this made a difference as he had a similar issue with his triumph daytona 675 and it went away with the adjustment of the gearlever angle(moving it down). I tried this but to no avail.

Has anyone had a similar issue or am I just not reving it enough for it to engage properly.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Andy.
