Hello I just found a yamaha yg 1 in a barn.It is complete,right out of the past.How do I find the year this was built?Can anybody decifer the vin numbers for me?Where is the ignition?I have no key also.I will need a key.Can I still get one?This will also be going up for sale within a couple of weeks on ebay.It will be offered internationally.My ebay user id is conesuscats.Thank you.Steve.

ok I found out ther is no ?According to a ad on the internet I found.The ignition is a battery start?Wow that pretty weird .They had a key to lock the bikes forks,and a side cover but no keyed ignition.I think I am keeping this bugger and going to get it running.What do you think?

Hi, I have a 1971 YG1 and the ignition is in the left side panel, within the black knob. I assume yours can't be that much different and you do need a key.
