January 20, 200916 yr What are recomended tyre pressures for an FZR600 with a 16 stone rider, for normal all round use? Cheers. Hello mate -am just wondering - did you get a response for this? Have just got one myself, and am around your physique it seems, but cant for the life of me find the right tyre pressure anywhere! Cheer Ears Doug
January 21, 200916 yr That's way too high for normal one-up use. I've always recommended 33/36 to my customers.
February 1, 200916 yr I've had similar thoughts about this very thing, being exactly 16 stone and doing a far few motorway miles each week (probably around 240miles)... I use 40-42 on the rear 'cos of my weight and fraction of time spent on the motorway...
February 25, 200915 yr I have always been advised to have 36 front and 42 back. I do 80 miles a day (mostly motorway) and ride on Bridgestone BT020 or Avon.
June 17, 201212 yr 16 stone = 101 kg (rounded down to nearest kilogram) which is >90kg. According to page 6.21 of the manual: Upto 90kg Front = 2.25 bar Rear = 2.50 bar 90kg - 183 kg ("Maximum load: 183kg" according to the same manual page of 6-21): Front = 2.25 bar Rear = 2.90 bar High-speed riding: Front 2.25 bar Rear 2.90 bar *Conversions into psi* There are two conversions that could be used: Page 8-5 of the manual uses 14.2234 - this has been derived from 1 technical atmosphere = 14.223 psi Common internet searches will reveal the second conversion: 1 bar = 14.504 psi Both will give results within 1 psi of each other: Up to 90kg: Front = 32-33 psi Rear = 36 psi 90kg - 183kg (maximum load): Front = 32-33 psi Rear = 41-42 psi Because the original poster's weight was >90kg (i.e 101kg) then, according to manual 2002.05-0.6x1, his tyres pressures should be: Front = 32-33 psi Rear = 41-42 psi Never have I seen 36psi for a front tyres, so I'm not sure where that's come from. Having said that, when I bought my 2005 FZS600 I found the front tyre to be 38 (and the rear to be 41) - so perhaps 36 is common practice despite the manual suggesting 32-33 ?
