rx7outlaw Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 hey guys, i am 23 years old, and im going to get my self a 1991 fzr1000 genesis this week. this is gonna be my 1st bike. i wanted to know from past/present experiences, what were your thoughts on this bike ?? id like it if someone could explain a bit more about the EXUP system, from what ive heard. it is similar to the rotary engine's auxiliary 5th and 6th port. i really like the look on older bikes ... just like my car a own a 1988 Mazda RX7 Turbo2. and insurances arent too bad on that motorcycle. ive had a 900$/2 ways+theft+fire+vandalism quote. heres all i was really able to know from that bike thru internet : Model Yamaha FZR 1000 1991 Motorcycle Style: Sport Engine Type: 1002 cc, 4 Stroke - Liquid Cooled - Inline Four Engine Bore and Stroke: 75.5 mm x 56 mm Valves 5 valves/cylinder Horsepower: 145 hp (108.1 kW) @ 10000 rpm Maximum Torque: 107 Nm (78.9 ft. lbs) @ 8500 rpm Transmission type: 5 speed Final Drive: Chain Tire - Front: 130/60-17 Tire - Rear: 170/60-17 Brakes - Front: dual 320 mm discs with 4-piston calipers Brakes - Rear: single 267 mm disc with 1-piston calipers eelbase 1460 mm (57.5 inches) Fuel Capacity: 19 l (5 Gal) Dry Weight (without fluids): 236 kg (520.3 pounds) and off wikipedia : "The 1987 version of the Yamaha FZR1000 had a top speed of over 250 km/h. The 1989 version, crowned the "Bike of the Decade", had 0-60 acceleration of 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of over 270 km/h. The unique feature which gave the 1989 onward models their 'EXUP' name was a servo motor driven exhaust valve. This allowed large bore exhaust header pipes (for excellent gas flow at high engine speeds) coupled with the valve restricting flow at lower revs, to speed the gas through. It gave pulling power from low revs, seemlessly, up to the red line at 11,500RPM. robz Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 nice bike the 93 version was uprated with ohlins forks / shocks i think The fzr 750 r [owo1] limited edition was lighter with as much power and was a successfull race bike
TDM878 Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 If this is your first bike on the road then take it steady, they're big & heavy but bloody quick, maybe not R1/Blade quick but if its your firsty bike it could be quite a handfull.

fzrmad Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 hi,i have a 1990 fzr 1000 exup,believe me,it goes like a missile!for your safety,take your time & get used to it before taking any chances,they are very reliable bikes & bomb proof fro a 1st timer,hope you have as much fun with your as i do with mine,rvgold001. hi guys i also ave an 1990 exup and by christ i thought my fzr750 was quick the exup is a completely different bike they are not for the faint hearted as they rip your arms off as the exup opens fully thats if you havent turned the bike upside down. usuall things to look for is blown forks seals, binding brakes. chains and sprockets smoke from the exhaust when reved hope this helps ride safe fzrmad
