Posted June 20, 200717 yr Hi, Just bought a 98 SR125 with 6,500 on the clock so i can get some experience on the road and pass my test and then get a real bike. Have changed the plug and the oil. Does any one know proceedure for adjusting the idle speed. There is an adjuster under the carb which i beleive has to be open 1 to 1.5 turns and there is another slow running adjuster near the choke. Even though it appears to be idling ok it does cut out sometimes so am not convinced i have set it up right. What do the 2 adjusters do? Appreciate any help as i am very new to bikes. Thanks
June 4, 200816 yr Hey there, Mine's a '97. Adjuster underneath carb on engine side is the mixture screw. 1.5 turns out from fully in. As its on the engine side, its a fuel adjust. On the airbox side, it would be an air adjustment screw. Same function in either case - to ensure you have the correct mixture The adjuster on the side controls the throttle slide height, and thus tickover speed. 1.25 turns out from fully in (YMMV here). Cheers, Nigel
