Posted May 30, 200717 yr recently got a 1981 xs850 from a friend that had a charging problem, problem is he took it alittle farther then i think he should have, disconnected the wiring harness all the way back to the battery after reconnecting all the plugs I seem to have power when i shouldn't, the neutral light stays on weather the key is on or not, and can't get the oil lights to work, tested the bulb and it works. The coils won't fire. I have been chasing the problem for the past few days and it appears to me that it might be the ignition unit, is there anyway to test this?
