millers1
I don't have a service manual yet... wondering if anyone can give me the specs on ignition timing / point gap? Also.. do timing marks exist or is a dial indicator required?

Ignition timing is 3.2mm BTDC but on points engines there is no adjustment other than a small variation by adjusting the points gap, opening the gap advances the ignition, closing it retards it!, gap should be 0.3 to 0.4mm or 12 to 16thou in old money. Cheers, Martin I spent about 15 minutes 'tweaking' the points gap and seem to have gotten the old 250 to run really well. Appreciate the info. shntat
what about the base plate movement of magneto. I got new point and I re-wound the hard to find coils 18 and 25 ga. any idea on where I should place the plate to get 0`? I think my timing gauge tab is bent.
