Ok folks I've just bought a 2000 R1 out here in Korea, I got it at a very good price but I do know it needs some TLC. Koreans have an addiction to bolt ons so I will be changing a lot of things back to stock. However there is one problem which I am not entirely sure what the cause is:

The bike is not agreat starter from cold, takes a while to fire and sounds slow off the starter motor, once the engine is running it sounds fine. However if you stop the engine or stall it and the temp is above 70 degrees then you have top wait for the engine to cool down to below 70 before it will restart, also the motor is slow in kicking over again say about 2-3 revs/sec. It is defo not the battery and I am sort of drawn between valve clearances and starter pinions.

Any thoughts?
