XT600E ignition switch problem

Hi, I have a 1990 XT600E. The ignition switch has a 4 pin block on it. I just bought a new switch which has a 6 pin block. 4 of the wires match but the new one has 2 extra wires, a black one and a black and white one..... what do these extra wires do? Can I just ignore them?
