I bought my 94 SecaII last October from a motorcycle enthusiast. This guy had bought it from a husband and wife and the wife rode the SecaII and her husband had another bike so I'm pretty sure that my bike was not abused (as it was ridden by an older woman). The guy I bought it from did some work to it such as: jet kit and carb rebuild (dunno what stage jet kit), K&N Velocity Stack intakes for each carb, he replaced the vacuum fuel pump with an electronic one that would normally go on an ultra-light aircraft - he said he matched the PSI of the electronic pump exactly (somewhere around 4 PSI) and also installed a Vance&Heines 4into1 exhaust. He only put about 500 miles on it and sold it to me with about 12,500. I've put 1000 miles on it so far. Last week I changed the oil and filter to get it ready for spring and summer. I asked a technician what weight oil to use and her boyfriend (a YZF600 owner) suggested I use a perfomance 20/50 weight oil. Is that too heavy? Just today I was screwin with a buddy who was tryin to talk to me and I revved the engine. It has never smoked before but as the engine was idling down, it smoked. I noticed so I tried it again, and again while it was on it's way down in RPM's it smoked again. Can oil that is too heavy make your engine smoke or is there a greater possibility that a bigger problem exists inside my block or in the valves in my heads. It has never done this before and this bike is in immaculate condition?

There's a BleedinYank moderator here so you being a BleedinYank has no bearing on it.

Smoking? As has been said, I reckon it needs a good thrashing on a long run.....then change the oil and filter again to get rid of any shit.

I don't know what the recommended oil is for your climate (probably 10w40), but whatever that is, go with it.

Remember it's an old tech motor....it wants old tech oil changed regularly. Stick with a quality mineral oil like Mobil or similar.

 Sounds like oil brake down.change the oil

then run a compression check on each cylender.

Sounds like to me one or more of your rings are weak.

possible a head gasgit considering what color the smoke is.

I've seen it also.

If your having carb problems as if the floats are'nt set ,

will cause gas to get in your oil causes oil brake down.

Just like a car if the octigin seancer goes out that tells the

Engine to pure the fuel.witch causes oil brake down.

I don't know ya!

BUT,

I real think that you just don't want to face the facts.

Fact is your rings are shot.....................
