Posted March 28, 200718 yr I just wanted to inquire that I have bought a 07 R6 Yamaha. I changed my exhaust to a devil carbon fibre exhaust on the first service of the bike (1000kms) To my surprise this sound is very low..i have ordered the exhaust which is a small exhaust similar to a stock exhaust. I have attached a pic I found on the net..it is similar to this..Someone told me that since it’s a brand new exhaust, you have to run it till 500kms to get the actual sound to it..is that true? Or did I make a bad deal!!! Pls advise. Thanks. This is what a reply i got from www.vyxxn.co.uk The silencer on the 07 R6 doesnt really do anything as the actual baffles are in the pipework underneath the engine. If you run the bike with the Devil removed it will still be quiet. This is how Yamaha have designed the new exhaust system as in order to fit a GP style end can to the bike and still comply with the new noise regulations they had to develop a completely new exhaust system. This is not the fault of the Devil end can and even though the bike is not very loud the Devil looks great so its not a bad deal
March 29, 200718 yr The reason it's not loud is because all the sound dampening is in the collector box underneath the bike which means that no matter what you do with slip-on GP cans, it wont sound any louder. If you can remove that and fabricate some kind of a link pipe then it'll be loud.
March 29, 200718 yr hmm thats odd wouldn't have thoguht that would happen! my advice is if you relaly want the extra sound and a little extra bhp, buy a new set of header pipes with no collector box, but keep the old ones for mot, unless you know the people who are doign it for you.
