Blue Streak
If a Fazer engine is supposed to be a de-tuned Thundercat engine, how do you go about re-tuning it to get the Thundercat performance?
chrisw
Think there's a bit more than just a fiddle here and there, It's probably got softer cams on it. To be honest there's not a huge amount of difference anyway ... both are de-tuned R6 engines.
Moderator YamaHead Posted March 8, 2007 Moderator Share Posted March 8, 2007 Yep....gotta agree with Chris here Softer cams & possibly smaller carbs are usually the changes that Yamaha does to different models with basically the same powerplants. Blue Streak
Oh well, looks like I'm stuck with it as it is then. My back and neck wouldn't be able to handle the riding position offered by the Thundercat or R6, whereas I'm ok in the sit up and beg position on the Fazer. I suppose I could always go for the XJR for a bit more muscle, but that's just so much heavier to haul around.
