Hello,

I'm new to the forum and have a question about gas tanks. I own a 1981 Maxim 550 (XJ550) and am looking for a replacement tank. I have come across several from other Maxim models (XJ650, XJ1100, etc...). I would like to know what tanks are direct fits for my bike. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

I used to have an '83 750 Maxim.....& I believe the 650's tank should fit?

But to be sure.....take a tape measure to the distance between the center of the front rubber mounts & the rear mount.

Then use that distance when hunting down another tank from salvage yards & such places.
