Hi there,

First of all, hello to all of you. I am based in Japan & recently purchased a Yamaha Dragstar 400 classic with all manuals in Japanese  There is a yamaha club here as well, but again - all in japanese.

This model is same as xvs 650 clasic sold in US (not sure about UK) except that 400 cc engines are more common in Japan.

I would appriciate if you can help me with a few questions

1. my bike's idling was way too high & it was literally drinking gas, so I lowed it down to minimum & now it seems to be much better on mileage. Is there any adverse effect of keeping idling to bare mimimum ? I always warm up engine well using choke before riding.

2. The bike looks huge & cool, but sounds like a small bike. Is there any way I can get better sound from this one or going for bigger bike is the only option to get decent sound ....

3. I know keeping idling low is kind of killing my this question, but what can I do to juice out max power from this bike ? On expressways i took it to 110 or so & I really felt the need for a 6th gear. I guess that cant be helped as even yamaha DS1100 has 5 gears, but juts wondering if any care/precaution/setting helps the bike reach peak performance eaiser.

ANy help & comments are highly appriciated.

Thanks in advance
