Is it actually adjustable? I'm not sure if it will make much difference. My eyes ARE however drawn to your primary drive. That's a LOT of wear. You need a new drive chain (primary, chain, secondary).

Center stand does not seem big enough to hold the bike properly, will fudge it for now with a bit of wood.

I expect once the bike is done I will just stick with the side stand and take it off.

they have always been marginal at best. Think I welded a plate under each one after checking the pivot wasn't worn

Morning.

The starter motor was not engaging properly so I have taken the alternator cover off for a look see.

There apears to me mucho slack in the starter chain, is this normal?

I have about 15mm of slack? :(
Or shall I just do away with the electric starter altogether.

Yeah It's a job to be done when the engine is back in the bike.

Now tackling the switch gear, kill button was not working and the starter button was missing.

Lucky I have loads of spares that came with the bikes.

Slowly getting the heap back together.

Want to refoam and cover the seat to try and slim it down a touch.

black pipes.jpg

Would also like to lower the rear end a touch, that huge gap between the tyre and the mudguard...yuk.

  • Moderator

Looking good...

I'm not sure I'd lower the back end. It's that height for a reason.
Before lowering it, see if you can find a way to 'hide' the gap...
Maybe some custom textile/leather paniers?

The slack should be between 5-7mm, looks like you need a new chain and sprockets for the starter. It's probably rattling already, and may risk jumping which could crack the housing.

Also, we want bigger pictures!
The thumbnail is the same size as the picture!!! lol

Anyway.

Getting on with the wiring and refurb of the instrument binacle.

I have ABSOLUTELY no knowledge on these things and got confused quickly, but all I got is: it all depends on what year it was manufactured (and possibly other criteria)...

Fitted rear indicators and finished the wiring yesterday.
