tonyj
I have a 2001 R1. I have got dunlops on it at the moment, 208 gp on the front and a 209 qualifier on the back. I am thinking of changing them to either metzeler racetec, rennsport or bridgestone BT002. I want to do a couple of track days next year, but mostly i'll use them for fairly fast road use. If you have used any of these tyres or have them on your bike i would be pleased to have your opinion, thanks.

Robbie
Just to throw another tyre into the mix try michelin pilot powers. The rock when theyve warmed up fully. Before hand they can be a little hairy - had a nice powerslide today coming out of a carpark. Regards

tont2002
I had power 2cts on my 98 R1 (180hp) and they are a really good tyre, i did a track day on them and really held up well, and got about 3000+miles out of them (fast road), and i would DEFINATELY recommend them. Ive just put Pilot Race on her now, and they are a LOT hairy in not perfect conditions, but AWESOME in the dry.......

DamoR1
Hi Tony I've got a 2001 R1 and Just putting on some Racetech RR's for the winter. In the summer and for fast ride outs and track day's I would go for K 2's front and back. You can pick up a good set of pre warn tyres from a specialist 2nd hand dealer or pick them up from a track. If you get a set that have only been used to quilify, then they will still be good for 2000 hard miles. I've used them all summer and will pit another set back on in the spring, they are the best for hadr dry miles on an R1. Cheers damo. I have a 2001 R1.
