Posted September 20, 200618 yr I'm trying to get back in the bike world. I bought a fixer. it's a '78 750 special, runs good but no first gear. Would it be easier to change out the gear or the transmision? It looks like the engine and transmision is all one peice is this true? Any help would be thankfull.
September 20, 200618 yr Moderator 1st of all.... to the forum Gipp If you can get your hands on a complete spare transmission, you'd be miles ahead. Switching out that 1st gear cog would more than likely be a whole lot easier that swapping the whole gearbox.
