Just got a nice 1983 RX50 from a friend. Great little performer and tremendous fun for running around town, too. A couple of tech questions for the more experienced:

1. The oil ine running from around the gearbox to the carm is a piece of 3/16" OD tubing coupled to the 3/16" fitting on the carb with about 2" of what looks like 3/16" ID fuel line- the whole thing just slips together, with no clamp. Is this right? We put a nylon tie-wrap on it to hold it in place.

2. The lights don't work unless the bike is running, and even then they're a bit weak at low RPMs. My impulse is to change the battery, but is there anything that could fail and allow the lights to work without charging the battery?

3. The fuel valve always allows a little fuel to pass even when shut off. This ends up running out the carb overflow lines. A problem with these bikes, or should I look for a replacement valve or some other fix?

Thanks for any help you can give.
