Just saying  hi  have a 1981 Yamaha 1100 special I owned about 20 years. Now to old/disabled to ride.  Passing it to my son.  Has 53K  Km .  Son saying Rpm is jumping up to 4K when idling and when riding.  Any ideas what is going on, how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

    Are the actual revs jumping? Or just the gauge?
    And what EXACT bike is it?
