Posted March 18, 20223 yr Hi; I recently purchased a 31000 Mike divvy 900. Have changed the oil to 10-40 shell advanced synthetic based and fitted a genuine filter. Somehow she seems noisier Am hoping someone could advise me if the oil I have used is suitable or not. The oil issue seems to be a minefield. Some are saying it should be SE oil due to age etc. Wondering if I need to drain and start again. Many thanks for your help in advance.
March 19, 20223 yr As long as its motorcycle oil you should be ok. Car engine oils have different additives in them. I suppose if the bike has been run on mineral oil for years, there may be a chance of a slight difference in noise, possibly a bit of clutch slip too as the friction material will be contaminated with mineral oil
March 19, 20223 yr Moderator Try Yamalube 10W40 Semi-Synthetic... Fully Synthetic isn't a good choice for the older bikes.
