Hi there,

Has anyone had any experience of re-spraying a frame using S.A.S. 27 Glass Black Paint (acrylic)? I'm just wondering how hard wearing the finish would be. Any tips on how you prepared the frame and applied it would be appreciated.

Alternatively, has anyone used powder coating?

Cheers,

Johnners

I used powder coat on mine. It's cheaper than pro painting and more durable than anything you could do DIY as it's baked on.

Hi Finnerz,

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was wondering. I found somewhere quoting about £80ish.

I need to make some enquiries as I think bead blasting would be the easiest way to get it prepped.

I'm on a budget so need to be careful but as the engine needs to come out I may as well make a good job of it.

Cheers,

Johnners

I would think that price would include blasting, might be best to double check

I've had a few frames powder coated and I'd check their work first before committing.

Some are just garden furniture coaters and that is the standard you get.

As you haven't completed your bio. I've no idea where you live so can't recommend anyone except triple s in bingley who are not the cheapest, but def up there with quality.

All coaters blast the frames just before they coat them. do it yourself and they won't guarantee their work as flash rusting with take place. decent coaters also blank off threads etc

+1 on what Drewpy said.

The place I went to didn't do that, and put a really thick coat on as well. Which lead to a lot of work for me after.
