2014 wr125R Startermotor will not engage

Hi just bought a 2014 WR125R the startermotor spins, but it doesnt engage and spin the engine to start it. 

 

Anyone else had this problem or know of it?

    First job would be to remove the starter motor and make sure there's an undamaged cog secured on the end of it...
