Just bought myself a DT400e (1978) in rough condition for full resto.

Just ordered up a full parts and also copy of a Yamaha engineering workshop service manual -I have found these two items invaluable in the past!

Engine main bearings are shot - I am a pretty confident home mechanic, is this a task realistically achievable or am i better farming out to a specialist / who are they (I live in Newark, Notts)?

Hi pete, "  yeh the cases are easy split,  i use the Tusk  tool,  but the first one i did was with a mallet,,Straight forward job, ..freez the bearings and warm the cases,  just drop in new bearings,,  the gears put them back in as a cluster,  ,cant go wrong  three selectors   ,,
