working from memory the shim will allow the swing arm to be totally free from binding when the swing arm pivot is torqued up to spec, you have to remove the damper and wheel and have the bike supported to test that, then just left and release the swing arm and it should move freely

HELP.  Trying to locate a Pivot bolt - Google has let me down.  Anyone know a supplier?

Is this where the shock attaches too at the top of swingarm or the bolt that connects the swingarm to the frame?

As Airhead says it's the bottom one. 

12mm dia, approx 200mm long (excluding head), approx 16mm of thread.

The one which connects to the bottom of the shocker on mine is just a clevis pin with a split pin stopping it from coming out (in addition to the tight fit).

The part number you need is 2N4-22141-00 and is common to over 323 machines. Just a case of looking for one for another model
