Posted June 26, 200618 yr I recently got my hands on a 1980 XJ650G, and after a few weeks of work she is running strong. I couldn't be happier. I am however puzzled by the emblem on the side panels. According to the maual and the serial number, its an XJ650G, but the side panels read "Maxim-I" There is no reference to the "I" insignia anywhere in the manual. Can someone clue me in to what it means?
June 26, 200618 yr Moderator I'm NO expert on this subject, but being a previous Maxim owner........ It might have something to do with it being an early generation Maxim? Mine was an '83 750.......& the later Maxim-X (5-valve head model) came out in '85 I believe?
