Where is the knock? You might just need a top or bottom end of the engine rather than the whole thing. and why can't you do it yourself? Where are you in the world cos some of the guys on here are more than willing to help out if they can. Helps if you fill in your profile with a few more details. Plus saying hello in the new members section helps as well. just sayin..!

On a low volume, under the radar bike like yours.

Your not!

Nobody will recondition those on a regular basis, a lot of people nowadays wont even know yam did a 4stroke v twin other than the drags/virago's. parts could be tricky too, not impossible but you may well have to be patient and persistent on the lower volume parts.

I would guess there will be bike garages that may well take it on but brace yourself, the problem being 'a knock' leaves you wide open to a long list of bullshit,  em, detailed mechanical items that may or may not need changing.

Do you not have any DIY ability or know someone who does?

Wow, talk about quitting easy.

Did the knock suddenly start, or has it grown over a longer time period

Does it knock when in neutral, or on the move, or both

Does the motor still run smoothly albeit with a knock.

You need to give more history
