Right first off the machine FZ400R (46X) first registerd 1986 imported 1993. Currently on a 1987 plate (D)

Good points virtually complete if exceedingly tatty well I have owned it for 8 years and the previous guy owned it for 2 years so it's been in my garden 10 years time flies.

He left it as a box of bits after ripping it apart. He took the wheels and frame had them powder coated gold (don't know what possesed him) anyway ravages of time have put it that it needs doing again wheels are ok been stored in my shed on a shelf.

Bad points forks pitted but can get them rechromed I have located fork seals. Rad is damaged but can be rebuilt by local rad specialist. Carb inlet rubbers perished found some on ebay new ones. Clocks show signs of impact clock case damaged but all there clocks themselves face glass has force marks in what looks like plexiglass anyone repaired these? Fairing panels mid and lower as much use as a choccy fireguard fz600 here I guess electrics are they the same as the 600? a few odd connectors near the clocks. Main bad point the motor the paint is shocking really needs repainting which leads me to the next problem I can't strip the motor as I can't find a gasket set anyone know where I may get one or other models that used that engine, yes I guess I could junk the motor find a 600 but then I am defeating the object of restoring it. I would like to keep it as a 400 so do I call it a day and sell parts or modify different front end change engine junk weight and see what I can up with. Sorry for the long post. Bit of searching again and found a genuine head gasket from another machine that used that engine briefly,  just need a base gasket and a clutch cover gasket i can get away with the rest by making my own.
