raychron
I recently bought an sr250 to fix up, took the engine apart and found the intake valve was cracked. I bought a replacement for both valves as it was almost the same price. I was able to remove the intake valve spring without much trouble, but the exhaust valve spring isn't budging and I ended up bending my valve spring compressor (admittedly a cheap one) trying to get it off. I was wondering what might be causing this and whether this would be related to, or the cause of, the crack in the other valve. The engine seemed to be running fine when I bought it 2 months ago. blackhat250
You mean the spring is solid, [ no give] ,shurly it moved a little, ?
raychron
It didn't move at all. It seems like the problem is the spring moving independently from the valve, because it does seem to give a little when I tried hammering it with the valve free to move. raychron
Thanks! I was being too gentle with it, I gave it a couple good whacks last night and it came right off.
